A good refreshing beer for the summertime that I recently have been drinking that Trader Joe's now sells is Anchor Steam. A California Classic. Reminds me a bit of Oktoberfest but not as malty.

How can anyone drink stouts in the summer? It is a winter beer through and through.

Once in a while, I'll drink a stout in the summer. Not too often. Prefer IPA's and lighter beers during the summer.

I like stouts all year round. Why do you think they invented air conditioning?

I actually dig the new Bud Light Platinum and agree with you. I won't touch Bud Light, but the Platinum I will. I've been spending more money on food to grill (tis the season) than I have on expensive beers - so I've been sticking to lighter stuff like TJ's Simpler Times, SN Summerfest, etc. I really don't want anything too heavy while I'm outside grilling (when I'm back inside with the AC - different story).

I like all good beers in all styles, regardless of season. I may be the rare bird who really does enjoy a double stout on a hot summer day. My fridge is loaded with heavy ales and I've had no trouble cracking one no matter how hot the day. I am very much a beer snob (yup, no apologies forthcoming about it either!) and would rather drink water than ****ty, mass produced swill like the Bud or Coors products. There is just too much GREAT BEER to be had these days, even on a budget, to spend your hard earned dough on ****ty beers.

I agree with this too although if Bud Miller Coors were to have a beer I enjoy I would have no shame in admitting it. It's sad but the beer community has been a bit brainwashed with the assumption that anything BMC = garbage. To an extent there is some truth that most of their brews you can safely pass on without missing anything. There is too much time wasted on sites like BeerAdvocate when it comes to bashing BMC when rather you could be discovering new beers and to discuss how great they are.

I definitely dig Coors Original, IceHouse from Miller, and BL Platinum from AB - the rest of the lineups I'll pass on.
