No idea, I had a blast at their brewery/restaurant though watching game 7 of the bruins/nucks finals. Ahhh good times.
Seems over priced in general though.

Concur that Stone is coasting lately. Besides their new releases being just 'meh' I ate there a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't very good. We actually sent back the hummus plate. It just wasn't edible. All the nice landscaping in the world cannot make up for substandard food.

That said, I am suitably impressed by their Drink By 9.21.12 IPA. It clocks in at 9.4% ABV. It's a freakin hop wagon with a slight peach tone. Very nicely colored for an IPA. And no toasty bitterness at the end. I'd say I like it better than their regular IPA but need a bit more to be sure (or a LOT more).

While I wouldn't call it crap, I wouldn't buy it. Had it on tap at Blue Palms last night. Interesting. Had a certain dank quality that was a bit off putting. Also had a pour of their 15th Anni with espresso beans and that was much more to my liking. Then finished with a pint of The Dude which was awesome yet again.

the beers that I had over the weekend...

Stone's 16th: I was told it had some cinnamon hint to it. nope, couldn't sense anything while trying to finish a pint of it.
Stone's Drink By 9/21: what a stupid name for it. great on the nose but the palate was odd.
Sierra Nevada Hoptimum: harsh drink. like Stone's 16th, not easy to finish. was expecting a better drink because it was made with whole cone hops.

Finished up today with Deschutes Obsidian stout (very good, but also very similar to Black Butte, which I guess, isn't a bad thing at all), GF WC IPA (solid), and Allagash Curiex (not bad, but not really my style either). Oh, yesterday had a bottle of Flying Dog Horn Dog barley wine. Very good stuff!

I had the obsidian a couple weeks back and I think I got a bum sixer, tasted pretty burnt. Going to give it another shot and hope it's not so smokey (the smoke was ok, it was the charred that bothered me).

Had the Lagunitas little sumpin sumpin for the first time this weekend. Nice beer, perfect for preseason football.

It's a sour, which explains the high price. I had it on tap yesterday at Eureka Burger, and it is fairly mild for a sour, but a nice introduction if you haven't tried that style. I also had Stone's Enjoy By 9/21, and I agree with Beerman on that. I tried it, now I can move on to other beers that represent the style much better.

If pressed I'd probably wouldn't be able to tell a Black Butte from an Obsidian. Didn't get any smokey qualities in it. Like BB, all I got was some very nice dark malty sweetness with typical cocoa/coffee tones.

Stone 15th Anni is much better with a year on it.
