It's tough to rule against PTY for beer of the weekend, but that Gnarlywine was absolutely the most memorable beer of our trip. We went from questionable to drive to forgetting our way back in 12oz. I've always had a "meh" type attitude towards Lagunitas until that trip. The vibe of that place is awesome! Lagunitas brings it with every offering they have (I wish they'd do their Doppel Weizen again) and the people who work for them are super cool. And I put Sucks right up there with Blind Pig, BP Sculpin, FW Double Jack, and KRBC Just Outstanding. You give me a few pints of any of those and I'm one happy MOFO. Hell, I think I'm going taking a drive up to Firestone today to get some fresh Double Jack on tap. Sound good?

KRBC Just Outstanding is one of my favorites. I need to make a roadtrip to KRBC!
While in Sonoma valley we also got our hands on some Racer XV at Bear Republic. Another damn fine beer, but it wasn't quite as memorable as PTY, Gnarleywine, and Sucks. Very good and highly recommended nonetheless. Full of citrus/grapefruit/pineapple hop aromas that you come to expect in an IPA, poured a brilliant clear golden copper color and slightly dry.
Just had a bomber of Alesmith Speedway Stout to celebrate the Kings win tonight. I've had it many times, but it had been a while.
Just enjoyed a Simtra tonight for the first time. Two of my all time favorite hops Simcoe and Citra. It was a bit pricey at $11 in Rancho Cucamonga. Overall though, it was a great beer. It was bottled 2/25/13, so the hop aroma and flavor was still present and powerful. The Simcoe hops prevailed in aroma while the Citra seemed to dominate in flavor. Personally, I prefer to see those reversed. Hard to believe it was 11.25% Not sure if I'd put it in my top 5, but damned good.
I also had a Heretic Evil Cousin, but it was bottled back in November. I wish i would have looked before I purchased it. I had high hopes for it, but it really lacked in the hop flavor department, likely due to the age. The bitterness was fantastic though. Hand a really sticky/dank feeling to it. It was pretty unique in terms of bitterness. I'm a big fan of JZ and what he does for the brewing community. I'm sure it's a great beer, but I need to find a fresh offering before I cast opinion. (Lesson learned)
KRBC Citra is next on the bucket list. Still being offered at the brewery? Can you purchase it in a growler? I may go up this weekend.
