Thread: The recommend-a-beer thread

I had 3 bottles of the Stone 11th Anniversary this weekend. Rinkrat pretty much summed it up ! Beeradvocate.com has it classified as an American Strong Ale, but to me it's more of a "Black IPA" if you will. Very hoppy and citrusy, but at the same time quite mellow yet very complex. It's safe to say that this is the most filling beer I have ever had. It was pretty difficult to put down 2 in one sitting, but I managed.

It also gives an interesting buzz as well. Not the typical beer buzz that I am accustomed to. Anybody else get this too ?

All in all, another stellar brew from the wondrous Stone. The 10th is still my favorite though.

Finally had an 11th Ann last night. Wow. Very good. I agree with the tasting notes already posted here. What a floral nose from the moment you open it and pour it. I bought about 10 but might get a few more for aging. Followed it up with a 2006 Limited Release Barleywine from Stone. That was really good too.

If you like the 11th Anniversary, try Lagunitas Undercover Ale. Even better than the Stone's 11th. Both are great beers.

In the past couple of weeks I have tried the following

Rogue Chocolate Stout (loved it !)

Green Flash Barleywine Style Ale (also loved it!)

Trappistes Rochefort 6 (came all over myself!)

Last night I had the Rogue Shakespeare Stout. Just delicious !

Its a toss up between that and their Chocolate Stout, can't say I'd pick one over the other. But the best stout I have had to date is by far the Russian Imperial Stout from Stone. That one is supernatural in every aspect.

Az, totally agree with you about Stone haivng the best stout in the Imperial Russian. Need to try Green Flash Barley wine.

I'd go with Shakespeare in that contest.

I would have to agree now that I think about it. In the end I prefer a brew less on the chocolate side, but I did love that Chocolate Stout nonetheless.
