I just went to a BBQ for the LAist in Echo Park hills and besides all the amazing foods and tasty dips and some bartender sent by a booze company to make some Brazilian drinks, they had a keg of Craftsman beer from Pasadena. I've never heard of it but it was a quality dark golden brew with a nice taste and just enough bite. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed a few cups.

I wonder if they sell it in stores? Anyone seen it?

Craftsman Brewing Company, Pasadena California Micro Brewery
their beers are ok. it's just a pub brewery.

edit: actually, Luck Baldwins would be the name of the pub that exclusively serves Craftsman beers, as far as I know. http://www.luckybaldwins.com/

Fooferah would have more info about them.

This stuff friggin rules! I just buy random beers sometimes to see how I like them. I've tasted a lot of crappy stuff in my day but Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale is wonderful!

This week I tried Red Rocket Ale and it sucked. My roommate bought Anderson Valley Brewing Boont ESB and that was actually really good.

I second the Hop Ottin IPA. You can guzzle a 6 of those easily. One of my fav IPAs out there.

After reading this thread, I've decided to brew another beer. I have a Mr. Beer home brewing kit. The beer is good, and the alcohol content is high. I've brewed about 12-16 different types of beer. Ales, Hefs, Porters, Stouts..... I highly recommend purchasing the kit. It simple and fun. It may take a try or two to get your beer tasting right, but when you do it is very rewarding. Nothing like getting hammered by your own creation.
