Thread: The recommend-a-beer thread

Picked up a 6'er of the Sam Adams Winter Lager yesterday. This has been a favorite these past 2 winters and I HOPE they didn't tweak with the recipe, like how they did with the recent Summer Ale.

I also picked up a Speedway Stout from Alesmith to throw in the fridge for good measure

Report back on it please. This past summer I ran into the Summer Ale and liked it so I am on the Sam Adams band wagon now. As far as winter ales I can recommend this as well:

Shout out to Az and any other partakers of the golden/red necter who may visit the Pacific Northwest sometime. When here make sure you visit the Red Hook Brewery in Woodinville, WA. Great tour and very good beer. They went a bit commercial but they still have some decent brews.

I've had the Red Hook ESB which I REALLY enjoyed, and had a barleywine from them as well which was fantastic.

They might be a little to big to be considered a microbrewery, but their beer is damn good! That doesn't stop me from enjoying good beer. Come to think of it, Stone and Sierra Nevada aren't really microbreweries anymore, but I drink their offerings religiously. They aren't commercial like Widmer and Pyramid as far as I am concerned!

I'm a fan of Widmer Hef so I tried their Holiday Ale called "Brrr" and it was interesting. Full bodied bitterness and a sweet finish. 7.2%. Try it! Ya might just like it.

I am open to try any new beer, regardless of who brews it. I'll hold off though until I can find a single 12oz bottle of it (most likely from Hollingshead). I try to avoid buying 6 packs of new beers incase I can't stomach it.
