I just found a fantastic beer.
6.9% Alc.
Probably hard to find.
Anderson Valley Brewing Company: "Winter Solstice" Seasonal Ale.
THE BOMB!
over the weekend I had:
Rogue's Santa Reserve
TJ's Winterfest 2005
they're both great stuff, Maynard.
Agreed. And if you can still find it grab some cases of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale and Anchor Steam Our Christmas Ale. Both age nicely if you don't drink them soon.
Over the holidays I picked up a 6 pack of St. Bernardus Prior 8 and honestly, I wasn't impressed. The nose was fantastic but I found the flavor to be really lacking in any complexity - well, for that matter, it was really pretty boring. It wasn't what I expected after the wonderful aromas upon pouring. Oh well. It's not bathwater so the 3 I still have will be sitting in the fridge for one of those nights where I, heaven forbid, am out of beer.
Today I picked up a 12 pack of the Sierra Nevada ESB (Early Spring Beer) and yes, Spring has gotten here awfully early this year. It's been in the 80s in Templeton for over a week and today it hit 83. I just poured the first one and the hop aroma is very nice. Not too overpowering. And yes, oh yea, first sip confirms this is going to be a nice 12 pack. Good bitterness, really nice malt after the hop hit, mouthfeel is really nice. Reminds me of having a really fresh Bass Ale in London except with quite a bit more hops on top. Hey. I like this. I need to take a drive to Chico and spend some time at the brewery. Any Chico based LGKers?? It's been too long since I was last up there. Anyway, try and find it. I highly recommend to all you ale/Sierra Nevada lovers. Quality stuff.

Nothing fro North Coast has ever disapointed me. This beer rules. I would put it up there with the 08-08-08 from Stone. Grab a 4 pack of this
