Default Red Flyer Wine at TJs

3 bucks a bottle and surprisingly good. I remember a couple of years ago I found a cab called Indigo Hills that was great and only 6 bucks a bottle and always slapped myself for not buying a case at that price. For 3 bucks I think Ill stop by and get a case.

Nice. I'll check it out next time I'm there, Hip.

In case you never heard years ago, TJs also has a great bargain for Black Mountain "Fat Cat" Cabernet, among others types for $4.99

My personal favorite is Black Mountain Zinfandel. Bought a case of it for my dad because he was raving about it so much.

I tried the Red Flyer wine last night. I saw it featured at TJ's and figured "Why Not?" It's only $3.
The wine is not bad, but it really does need to aerate for about an hour before it opens up.

Mine was pretty good right out of the bottle quite frankly. Im getting into wines that are more oakey and less fruity as of late so the Red Flyer fit the bill.

    Regardless....3 bucks a bottle!

I'll second the Red Flyer recommendation. Syrah and Mourvedre blend I think. A great everydayer for $3.

I also tried their other $3 wine, a Stimson chardonnay. Actually thought it tasted more like a chenin blanc than a chard....very light, no sour fruit. A good picnic wine.

It's not bad out of the bottle, but much better, in my opinion, once decanted. I also subscribe to the school of thought that young wines are better when decanted. I like oakey wines as well, as long as it's aged in french oak. Generally not a fan of wines ages in American oak. FWIW, if you buy a case, try decanting one and see what you think.

Agreed though, for $3 a bottle, it's a pretty good Southern Rhone style wine.

It's a Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan blend - typical Southern Rhone style. I believe that Hahn Estates winery produces this wine.

Okay, you got my vote. Went to TJ's and bought two bottles.

For the price this wine has more body that any other I've tasted. Makes 2-buck Chuck taste totally watered down. Tastes great right out of the bottle.

    Nice call!

Went to the North Irvine TJs last night, Red Flyer is a discontinued item and most likely wont be a TJs staple. I bought the case for 36 bucks and tax. For that price why not? Its certainly worth a buck more then 2 buck chuck and comparable to the dollar YellowTail.
