Good point on In N Out. They are usually so busy that the burgers, as well as the fries, are underdone. Ever had the pleasure of biting into a frozen tomato from there? I'll go there but ask for everything welldone.
Here's another one: Smitty's Fried Chicken, Culver City, in that strip mall with Del Taco (Venice/Robertson) Change in ownership = Super dry chicken with really weak sides.
I went to Shakey's (Hollywood) a couple weeks ago, as I had not been there since I was a teenager. I actually thought it was decent, but I don't mess with those terrible mojo potatoes or chicken. (Maybe I am just starved for better pizza since my wife likes that *****ty Papa Johns excuse of a pie..)
you know that you can ask for both the burgers and the fries well done, correct?
GOD, I love Farmer Boy's.
Tokyo Lobby in San Gabriel.I used to love those boats they served. Sadly, they jumped the shark a few years ago.
Also the Smoke House in Burbank. When I was a kid that place cranked out superb steak dinners. Now...forget about it.
Went to s*** the moment the name changed to Del Taco.
Carl's has gone to crap also. It started when they got rid of the KILLER wavy cut mashed potato fries back in like 81-82 and went to the ****ty shoe strings like Mc suck. Their Bacon Western Cheeseburger's were the schmack back then also...
I remember Arby's being much better also. They used to actually slice the (real) roast beef and (real)cheddar in front of you when you ordered a Beef and Cheddar.
Don't know if anyone's mentioned KFC. It used to be good when the birds they fried were chickens. But that was a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago.
Agreed on In-N-Out. I only get it once or twice a year when visiting Cali--usually my first stop right from the baggage claim. It's still good.... but lately seems to satisfy less and less each time. Could just be those LAX area locations. At least they haven't jacked their prices. Nothing worse than the cost going up as the quality goes down.
