I like root beer. I bought these at Galco's:
I included the birch beer and the sasparilla because I thought they might be related to root beer. For this round, I went the pure cane sugar route. I will start drinking and reviewing them next.

First up:
Boylan's Birch Beer $1.49
We didn't start on an auspicious note. Dark in color; not much head; both the Mrs. and I thought it tasted kind of like cough medicine. I also suggested a hint of licorice, while Mrs. said maybe it was anise. Anyway, not a favourite.
Next:
Berghoff Famous Root Beer $1.49
Dark in color, when poured from the bottle, the head lasted over a minute and a half. If you like your root beer sweet (almost vanilla-creme like), this one is a good start, but it didn't have enough "snap" for our taste. Still, not a bad drink--5/10 rating. On to the next one.
Next:
Fitz's Root Beer $1.29
Slightly lighter in colour; head gone in about a minute. Though it specifically listed "vanillin"(?) amongst the ingredients, it was not overly sweet. In fact, it had a really good snappy flavour with little or no aftertaste. A 7/10 rating.
Gelco's ftw!!!!
Those micro root beers are hit and miss...
Damn tasty
And thats how you get ants!
BevMo has a good selection.
Next:
AJ. Stephans Root Beer $1.59
Real sudsy head disappears quickly. Good flavour, not too sweet, compares favourably to Fitz's so far. 7/10 rating.
