smoking pork rib tips?
I've never cooked ribs 100% in a smoker before - in the past I've put them in the oven (steam them) for about 2.5 hours at 250 and then smoked them in my grill for about 3-4 hours (lowest temperature possible).
I "cured" the new smoker last night, and noticed at the low setting that it was maintaining a 250 degree temp inside the smoker. That seems to be way too high to keep the ribs in for a long time (say 6-8 hours?). or am I too hopeful on keeping them in that long? I'd like to smoke them around 175 or so. I don't really want to keep one of the doors cracked, but if I have to, I'll do it.
It would be awesome to smoke them for 18 hours if possible, but the temp, I think, is too high for that.
any ideas would be extremely appreciated.
thanks!

I do not think that doing them in 100% smoker is going to be any different then you mentioned above. I would go with the way that you stated. And you do not need to maintain the smoker for 8 hours.
