Thread: Some Zankou Questions

when you order a shwarama plate they give you a side of hummus and then a side of what I generally call Garlic Sauce but not sure of the official name. Next when you order the chicken they give you a side of garlic paste in a white side container-I generally refer to this as garlic sauce as well but once again Im not sure what the official name is.

In summation-what are the official names of the sauces and pasts Im referring too and anyone know how to make it? here you can see the hummus on the left and the "garlic sauce" on the right.

Don't know how to make it, but the garlic sauce is called toum. The paste is just the same thing with less olive oil, IMO.

I thought the white less thicker stuff was Tahini sauce? Either way that chicken shawarma plate is bomb!

After further research....the white sauce on the plate is known as Sesame Sauce, not to be confused with tahini.

I used to live next to one in Anaheim and I ate there at least once or twice a week. I love this place.

I love it too. Only been the Pasadena one though.

The garlic paste is nectar of the gods.

Oh dammit, now I'm gonna have to get some Zankou soon.
