Default Sous-Vide Cooking on the Cheap

This looks like a cool thing to try:

Use a Cooler to Cook Your Meat Sous-Vide on the Cheap - Cooking - Lifehacker
    e-cheap

I can't believe I haven't heard of this type of cooking before. I've seen them reheat supposed BBQ ris at Hooters like this before but never thought of doing rib-eye or brisket like this. Anyone try this?

(Be sure to click the link a couple lines before the comments.)

I'm confused exactly how they get the water warm in the cooler? Do they just dump in the warm water at the temp they want to cook at?

    Per the second linked article:
Fill up your beer cooler with water just a couple degrees higher than the temperature you'd like to cook your food at

I learned about sous-vide on Top Chef. Interesting. I saw a sous-vide cooker on one of the fancy kitchen stores' sites not too long ago, it may have been Sur La Table, I'm too lazy to look it up right now. Anyway, this would be a hell of a lot cheaper than the $600+ I thought I saw.

It was in the Sur La Table catalog. I saw it too.

It's only $449.95. On sale right now! Such a bargain.

SousVide Supreme started a combo package yesterday that is great:
$469 includes the water oven, the vaccum sealer and Doug Baldwin's book.
It's free shipping and the website did not charge sales tax.
