Busy Bees really has the best sandwiches ever. Used to go there quite a bit. Always a good decision.
For breakfast, my reg spot on the weekends is the Country Touch Cafe in Torrance. It's on 190th between Prairie and Crenshaw, and its location is... well, questionable, to say the least. It's right across the street from the Mobile refinery. However, it's a cute, clean family run place with great staff and owners. Really feels like a diner, not an uptight place, very personal. Spanish Deluxe omelet is awesome, get that.
For a smaller, more personal dinner, I like Creme de le Crepe, which is actually just up from Ragin Cajon on Pier in Hermosa. Last time I went the, (been 6 months or so) there was still no corking fee, so being your own wine, they're happy to give you glasses. If you want an appetizer, I'd recommend the tomato bisk soup. Why? I ****ing hate tomatoes. I mean hate them. If I could wipe them off the face of this planet, I would, apathetic to how many people would be thrust into a state of starvation. Their tomato bisk soup is incredible. Their crepes are pretty bleeding good too.
Large group, laid back dinner: The Lazy Dog at the new east, out door side of DelAmo. It's crowded enough to be a good atmosphere, but not like Macaroni Grill where everyone has to yell to hear eachother. I was going there to watch the playoff games, since a couple of the bartenders like hockey. Also have decent house beers and happy hour.
