I really wanted a carne asada burrito from Carmels today.
Used to be on the corner of El Toro and Rockfield in Lake Forest.
It was replaced by a Chronic Tacos...what a shame.
I hear rumor that the employees opened a place called El Progresso in Lake Forest off Raymond and El Toro, and "copied" the Carmels menu. Haven't tried it yet! Anyone here know of it? I know there are quite a few of you LGK peoples in the Saddleback Valley area.

Tell me what's good and I can give it a try next week
At Carmels, my standard order was a carne asada burrito and 2 taquitos. The burritos were huge. Some people don't care for refried beans in their asada burritos, but the beans and the steak were so good together. I would have to compare the new place to that order to get a good idea if it's the same.
Looks like its not a rumor.

I'll have to stop by and give a try.
I miss Papa's, from various locations in Long Beach, then Los Alamitos.
Best tri-tip ever, slow roasted with absolutely no sauce. Homemade beer-based salsa, and a no frills down home attitude.
That place had the worst luck ever - grew out of its first place, leased a new building with severe plumbing problems, moved into the kitchen of a bar near the race track in Los Alamitos while the new building was being built, then the entire strip mall of their new location burned down.
