Where do I get one and/or how are they made?
Hot Corned Beef on Challah Bread with a little Mayo and Mustard.
i usually make them like so:
2 slices white bread (sometimes, i use brioche bread)
french ham (trader joe's used to have some great madrange ham, black forest will do though...)
a few slices of gruyere
fry both sides of sandwich in butter until golden brown
top one side with bechamel* sauce, then grated gruyere
broil until the cheese on top browns and bubbles a bit.
(*bechamel sauce = melt a tbsp butter in a pot over med-low heat, add tbsp flour, mix until smooth, add about 1/2 - 3/4 cup of milk... i usually eyeball it so it's not exact, pinch of nutmeg, pinch of salt, pinch of white pepper, optional add grated gruyere and stir until blended & thickened)
it's basically like the sauce you make for casseroles or homemade mac n cheese.
Lunchie, I'm on my way to your house. Have one ready for me in about a half hour. kthxbye.
A New York style Roast Beef, Provalone on Rye loaded with yellow mustard and mayo.
God I miss NYC food.....
black forest ham with everything except pickles at Roma Deli in NoHo
They just got a panini machine up the street and that thing makes the best crunchy sandwiches.
The other great sandwich out there is the Cuban at De Simone's in HB. Roast Pork, Ham, Turkey, Pickle, Butter and Mustard toasted on their fresh homemade roll. Trust me. Sounds bizarre but is incredible.

Here is an OC Register article from 2008 on De Simone's - trust me you will love it and a lot of lgk'ers have been going there for years.
