Boneyard Bistro in Studio City on Ventura and Woodman. Great food..a bit pricey but worth it. Top shelf alcohol and lots of beers on tap. The bartenders are the most knowledgable and bartenders ever. I go there at leadt once a month.

So many good suggestions here. I miss Bar Hopping. :(

I used to do that in the Bay Area, things are much less spread out there.

It's more than selection alone. I like places that have beers I like and know me by name, or treat me like they do.
Rock & Brews in El Segundo always has Matilda on tap and usually one more brew from Goose Island.

The people in that place are the reason I left OC and never want to go back.

My all time favorite spot is the downtown Palm. I've been going for years before and after Kings games. The barkeeps are friends and any time I can go somewhere where they start making my usual drink when they see me walk in the door is tops for me. All the free shots help, too. Other than that, The Blue Boar and Velvet Margarita in Hollywood are high on my list right now, but quite possibly because they're just up the street and perfect for a Friday de-stress session with coworkers after work. I love the Bowery in Hollywood, too. St. Felix has a great happy hour, but the service is just awful. Such a shame. Back Abbey in Claremont has one hell of a Euro-beer selection, all served in proper glasses and chalices, and they have the BEST burger around in their Back Abbey Burger. If I'm just wanting solid, local beer, it's Golden Road in Glendale. In Fullerton I'm partial to The Olde Ship. I'm also a sucker for places that use nothing but fresh fruit and booze in their drinks like they do at Katsuya. What else...
I have friends who live by the Back Abbey and they swear by it as well. I haven't been there yet. My favorite newer place w/ the best burger I've had thus far is The Trippel in Playa Del Rey. Very, very small. Not a huge beer selection but everything is great. A few beer, cider or wine cocktails as they don't have a full liquor license. Their Trippel burger is insane. Its a mix of aged angus, pork and duck confit. Comes w/ an apricot jam and some greens. I ask for it w/ the pretzel bun though. The first time I had it I started laughing half way through my first bite it was so good.

If you're familiar w/ The Hudson House in Redondo Beach, its the same owner, Brooke. She is actually on Top Chef Seattle right now.

I know, I have been wanting to get down there. I know a couple of people there, who were working at Rock'n Fish while they remodeled the place. I promised a friend I wouldn't go without her, but she better hurry up or I may just have to go on my own.

Well I usually ply the bartenders with cookies, so I almost always get a few free beers, no matter where I go.

The Varnish, because it's a speakeasy.
