    Default Whetstone anyone?

I am looking into getting a set of Whetstones/Waterstones, but I have no idea what grits to purchase. I am going to be using this for our kitchen knives only. Any tips and tricks would also be helpful. As of now we use one of those draw through sharpeners from Wustoff and they pretty much suck.

I use a "MinoSharp 3 Plus" ceramic wheels hand held sharpener for quick, on the fly sharpening or Whetstones (Rough: 240 grit, Medium: 1000 grit and Super-Fine: 8000 grit) for my Global kitchen and assorted pocket knives.

Model 550BR for the hand-held sharpener. You fill the sharpener with water so it acts more like a whetstone.
Models 459 (rough), 472 (combo med/fine) for the whetstones. Used for a sharpening session and for my pocket knives.
I didn't buy the sharpening guides for the kitchen knives but they do look handy.
