Must try this place...!
The Arts District is hardly new. It's one of the oldest neighborhoods in DTLA.
If you really wanna support your new 'hood, come on the neighborhood watch walk. It starts at 6:30, Wednesdays, across the street from the 'Kuche. I'll be there and it's a great way to find out who your neighbors are, where your neighborhood starts and finishes, and what's new in the 'hood. Toddy G's Pizza? Have you been? Sushi Gen or R23? Have you decided? Pitch in to make the new dog park? Plant trees on 3rd St? Were you there?
The Arts District is a community, kinda like LGK is. I would love to see some more of the new people get involved.
Also, try the Underberg at the 'Kuche. It's pretty great.
It's new for me! Only been here 6 months ;)
I have not been to any of the other ones you mention but had a res at R23 and had to cancel due to work. I'll get there.
Have you tried this one? The Lazy Ox Canteen - Little Tokyo Downtown Los Angeles AMAZING place. Tapas style dishes. Get the pig ears. Probably deserves its own thread at some point.
I just opened up my loft for Loft Walk at Barker Block. Also a good way to get to know my immediate neighbors. Had about 100 people come through. What about Art Walk? You do that one? Have not been yet myself.
Oh- and LA Beer Week this weekend at Union Station! See my separate thread here on that event.
Recently heard they're going to open up a second location where the old Air Conditioned is on Lincoln on the West Side.
Good news for the Westsiders who don't want to make the drive to downtown.
Went to try this place before the Edmonton game. They were closed for remodeling k-crying:
They're definitely re-opened. Had lunch there yesterday with a friend. Did up a few of the usuals (Filipino Maharlika, Duck/Bacon, Rattlesnake/Rabbit) and an order of Belgian fries with bleu cheese/walnut dip. My friend went nuts of course. Thought it was great!
I've also decided the best of the German beers on the tap there is Schneider's Edel Weiss. It's also by far the most expensive but man is it delicious!
Finally got to tty this place. THe alligator and buffalo sausages were very good. The rattlesnake was just okay. The fries with truffle oil were fantastic but I didn't care for the blue cheese dipping sauce. The pesto dipper was good. Topped off with a Spaten Optimator. Yum!
