Mixed drink for me most of the time is jack and coke.When I was alot younger I used make a drink that had in it rum,scotch,whiskey,tequilia,vodka and brandy with orange juice. As the night wore on I put less orange juice in it. It was called either a suicide or goodbye drink. When I went to Latitude(sp)20 off of Ocean and PCH inTorrance,Ca. in the mid 70's, the had a drink there called a Suicide. As soon as I walked in the door the bartender would already have a Suicide drink made for me. Oh the good old days.
Captain and Coke...my favorite (Although when I was a young airman and was trying to save money, I used sunshine punch instead of soda; Soda was too expensive! It cut into my Rum money...LOL)
Went on a cruise and had a drink (ok many drinks...I kept getting this one) called..."Captain's Bounty" There is nothing like drinking Rum and cruising at sea. They just go together so well.

of course, Az should get there in due time... I first has 1942 while sitting in a bar in Louisville, KY at the Seelbach Hotel. $35 per shot.
It was slightly chilled, and I took a sip. WOWZA!!! I hand the glass over to my wife (who was sipping Tezon, and hands it to me)..
Well, since she is the manager of a wine shop... I kindly ask her for a bottle.. and for father's day... I get a bottle of Tezon and 1942 (which is almost gone)

p.s. when partying, I do enjoy enjoy some Sapphire and tonic. Limits the size of the hangover. Quinine rules!!!
I love rum and cokes. I can't stand the Captain's or crap like Parrot's Bay tho. I really like the Appleton's Estate rum. Decent stuff.
But... if I have a 'mixed' drink, it's almost always a vodka martini. I prefer Hangar One vodka if I have the scratch. Finlandia if not
Fill a shaker with ice, half full
Pour in one shot Dry Vermouth
Shake it well in the shaker and then strain all the Vermouth out
In a proper martini glass, pour a small amount of Dry Vermouth, swirl around glass, then pour it all out so that just droplets around glass remain
Fill shaker 3/4 of the way with Vodka
Shake well, but don't hammer it (you'll bruise the poor bastard)
Pour vodka into glass in a slow, swirling motion
Take a small ice cube from shaker and put it on a a piece of saran wrap. Crush it up gently with the bottom of the shaker and dump contents onto top of martini
For olives I recommend that you take your favorite queen pimento olive and remove the pimento. Get a nice piece of bleu cheese and cut a couple of small pieces. Fill the hollow olive pit with the cheese, skew two of them with a toothpick, drop it into the martini.
Now, go sit outside, forget the day and put a smile on your face fer chrissakes. The world ain't all that bad.
