there's one opening in hb on beach blvd also. I'm gonna try it then. husband tried the one by his work in Norwalk/Cerritos and said it was good. I guess it's similar to but different the counter?

The hype is real my friend, i live like 5 mins away from the cerritos location and it is heavenly food! it aint no hodad's but its up there.

Hodad's in O.B.? It's certainly pretty good, but no more than that. Plus the place is a filthy dump, which detracts from the enjoyment of the food even more.

I love Hodads, and i even like the atmosphere, makes it feel like a beach burger joint.

I like the atmosphere too, I just don't enjoy being ankle deep in used napkins.

Ive only been a couple times, but neither times had an experience like that. Then again both times were a couple years ago.

Yeah, it's probably one of those places better enjoyed when it's not the middle of the day during a summer weekend, due to the wait and the mess.

It's a different approach.

The Counter is a gourmet burger where you can mix and match high quality cheeses, gourmet dressings, selection of lettuces and some more unusual toppings.

5 Guys is a lot more basic, with 2 patties and then a selection: * Mayo * Relish * Onions * Lettuce * Pickles * Tomatoes * Grilled Onions * Grilled Mushrooms * Ketchup * Mustard * Jalapeno Peppers * Green Peppers * A-1 Sauce * Bar-B-Q Sauce * Hot Sauce

ya, the gourmet aspect is how I figure the counter is different. I'm assuming the similarity is just in the build-a-burger menu format.

Just tried Five Guys for the first time. It's all right. Definitely overrated. Definitely not anywhere as good as In-n-Out.

They do have a bacon burger.
