I am no longer as sold on Lombardi as I was earlier in his tenure. What I will acknowledge is the man is consistent. He has a plan. He is executing his plan. He will go down with the ship or be successful with his plan. Period.

Is it just me, or does anyone else see the brilliant analogy between a chaotic M*A*S*H unit in the middle of a combat zone, and the LA Kings Hockey Club? (I know, I'm a dork)(Okay, it was my favorite TV show, and it did help pick up the show when they let Alda take a little more of the spotlight)

Anyway, just to carry it a little further, if I had to choose between two surgeons to perform life-saving surgery on me, and all things being equal, I would not choose the one that showed even a glimmer of unsuredness. If that's your job, and that's your plan, then there is nothing to fear, except fear itself. Right? Lombardi should have been beaming at the press conference, at the very least for a few minutes. After all, he did get his man.

I agree with your evaluation on the situation, but it is worrisome that O'Sullivan still hasn't been signed, only because the longer it takes, the more possibility for bruised egos. I think Lombardi may have shown too much of his hand early on, and it's complicating the negotiations.

I'm just hoping the Lombardi-led Kings don't jump the shark any time soon. I hate it when they cancel my favorite shows, you don't have anything to show for your investment.

Carla, your level minded thinking is what I love about your blogs! Even when you don't agree with things, you don't bash them, but analyze the situation and put things into perspective for others. That type of mentality is sorely missed on HB and I'm glad I'm still able to find it elsewhere. Keep up the great work!

I have to believe that the 'jump the shark' comment was an intended pun, and a good one at that!! Your analogy to favorite shows failing to reward your investment is equally apt to the Kings. It is just this delayed gratification that can test one's patience.... *sigh*
