Your client here. Yes, I'd have to guess that my reply could be viewed as inevitable as your posting about our conversation in the first place. You got a lot right in your recollection but I thought I'd take a moment to clarify some of the points. In all fairness, you weren't exactly taking notes during the conversation!
Criticize Burke all you want, win for today, whatever, but he has in fact WON. And while some may question the Bertuzzi and Schneider signings, they were done because he was hedging as he tried to take the high road in allowing Selanne and Niedermayer the luxary of contemplating their futures well into the regular season. Everyone knows how that turned out and hopefully the NHL will come up with some sort of rule to prevent such a thing from happening again in the future. Bottom line, we haven't made stupid trade deadline deals by trading active NHL'ers or assets from our farm system. With or without Burke, I'm less worried about the future of the Ducks than I'd be if I were a fan of what someone calls the only Southern California hockey team that matters.
Fans have every right to be passionate about their teams. I respect the passion exhibited by you and the other Kings fans on this site (even though I was called a d-bag by one). I won't go so far as to say I'm a fan of both teams, I got over that long ago. But when the Kings are not playing the Ducks, I have no problem rooting for them. Why? Because nothing would make this rivalry better than to meet in the playoffs. Name the round, it doesn't matter, everything will be on the line. Then the real war of the words can begin!
DucksFirst for Kings Blogger!!!
after DucksFirst's response it has become apparent that our resident blogger has a penchant for sensationalism, victimization and hyperbole.
I only knew one person who is a kings and ducks fan and now I met Nemmy700 how is this possible is beyond me, I guess there is nothing wrong with that, but when these two teams do make the playoffs in the same year and face each other who will you root for Nemmy700???
I guess my question is:
Carla, will DucksFirst still be your client?
You were talking about quackers...something I'm perfectly ok with, they annoy me to. However, you made it seem as if you were persecuted for being a King fan by an evil Duck fan. When taking DucksFirst's account of the story it is not how it happened. This would be an example of victimization.Quote:
Carla : I received was thoroughly unexpected. It went something like, ‘I have never met a Kings’ fan’ (like … wow… there is one… who’d a thunk it….egad!)
DucksFirst : Not exactly. My ears perked up when I heard you talking to one of my colleagues about "quackers".
When you take your prospective client (assuming he is still prospective client) out of context like that to emphasize your earlier example of victimization it is an example of sensationalism.Quote:
Carla : ‘I have never met a Kings’ fan’ (like … wow… there is one… who’d a thunk it….egad!) What followed after that was less than impressive and long stored smack my client was itching to get out.
DucksFirst : Which I then followed immediately with "other than in my ice hockey locker room" which is decidedly pro-Kings.
Look, I'm all for making fun of Duck fans but this we should be proud because things might start going our way in the not too distant future is comedic hyperbole at it's best. Can't we just put comments like some of the ones espoused in your blog to rest until the Kings actually get something done? It sucks to have to hold back sometimes but arguing that the Kings are doing anything better than Anaheim, or anyone else for that matter (considering our last place finish and actual regression in year two of Lombardi's plan and possile further regression in year three) is lunacy.
