I wouldn't worry Sean. The people who made this decision probably won't be making the decisions for long. Hopefully, whoever they bring in recognizes the value of heart and keeps you in LA.
Avery has been targeted by the league all season and no one in the organization has stood up for him once. Not Andy Murray, not Dave Taylor, not Tim Lieweike, no one. No one stands up for the player who doesn't think twice about dropping the gloves to defend a teammate.
I think the best memories of this disaster of a season for me will be of Avery taking on Ed Jovanovski for running Belanger and Timmy G working Shanahan for running Avery. Thats the attitude this team needs.

Avery's future....
So, now that everyone that Avery had conflicts with (the coaching staff, DT) are gone, what are his odds for returning to the Kings next season? (My distraught daughter would like to know....she's not giving up on him yet even though I told her to.)
