Default Training Camp 9/16 (Day 3) - scrimmage summary

So I only was able to make the scrimmage today, so I can't comment on the drills. Anyways, it was Team Berry vs. Team Murphy. They did a bit of line-shuffling with Murphy - slightly different configurations from yesterday

    Team Murphy (white jerseys)
    Forwards
    Frolov-Kopitar/Avery-Clarke
    TK-Avery/Kopitar-Jackman
    Henderson-Kopitar-Hogeboom
    Ivanans-Zeiler-Murphy

    D-Lines
    Blake-Gleason
    Greenan-Werner
    Dallman-Ryan

    Goalies
    Labarbera, Brust

    Team Berry (black jerseys)
    Forwards
    Brown-Army-Stephenson
    Giuliano-Hollaway-Pushy
    Lukacevic-Thornton-Willsie
    Giuliano-Seymour/Pushy-Gauthier

    D-Lines
    Norstrom-Buckley
    Lubo-Weaver
    McGinnis-Schira

    Goalies
    Bernier, Taylor

Both games were pretty much dominated by Team Murphy. Murphy won the first game 3-0. There were a few penalty shots for both teams, obviously Berry missed all of theirs (penalty shots for Berry were taken by Thornton, Holloway, and Weaver in the first game). Noah Clarke missed a penalty shot for Murphy. TK scored the first goal off a penalty shot against Bernier. Jackman scored the second goal, and Avery finished the scoring with a penalty shot goal. Labarbera was the goaltender for Murphy, and as I said earlier Bernier was in goal for Berry.

The second game Murphy beat Berry 6-0. Brust was in goal for Murphy, and Bernier started off in goal for Berry. Dustin Brown missed a penalty shot early on. Zeiler scored the first goal of the game. The 2nd was scored by Noah Clarke off a nice assist from Avery. Bernier went out of the game 10 minutes into the contest and was replaced by Daniel Taylor, who got manhandled out there. Frolov made a sweet goal right off the faceoff from Avery, slapping it right into the upper left. Gleason scored a goal from the blue line. Later on, the TK-Kopitar-Jackman line scored, although I couldn't tell which one of them put it in since there was a big scramble in front of the net up until the puck went in. The last goal of the game was scored off a slapshot from Dallman (it might have been tipped, couldn't tell).

On a sidenote, Blake has looked very solid in scrimmage. He's been disrupting the passing lanes, poke-checking pucks away in his zone, and doing a good job passing and setting up the offense.

Anyone who was there - please post thoughts!

I'm starting to wonder how long it'll take before Pushy stops trying to be an acrobat on the ice. He had the puck in front, tried to do some fancy move, and didn't even get a shot off. If he keeps this up he'll be looking at a career in the AHL

Dallman's shot was a wrister from the point and was not tipped from what I could tell. I think Bernier was the goalie at the time. Bernier's confidence seemed to slip in that second game and the result was that soft goal, among others.

I kept looking for O'Sullivan as #26 because of the roster I had printed out from LGK, but I never saw a 26. I did see a #12 during the practice session at the end of the day and I thought that might be him. Can anyone confirm that?

Kopitar is stellar. I had been reading reports here that he looked good out there, but until you actually see him playing with the other guys you don't realize how well he'll fit in the starting lineup.

The Gleason/Blake combo looks like it will be an excellent pairing. I think Gleason will learn everything as much as Norstrom did from Blake with the added benefit of being an offensive defenseman. I don't want to get too ahead of myself, God forbid someone admonish me for having my own opinion, but he could become a Norris quality defenseman with Blake's tutelage.

Did I mention Anze looked good?

1 goal, 3 assists for Avery. Not too shabby. I thought he played well, and apparently, so did Dave Taylor and some of the scouting staff that was seated around me.

Overall, most of the goals were beautiful. Cloutier was the starting goaltender for Berry (game one) but he was pulled once he let in 2 goals in about 17 minutes. Foreshadowing, I hope not.

Gleason laid a big hit on ... someone help me out here. Possibly Roussin. Scouting staff seemed impressed with that as well, and possibly a little shocked. It was quite a hit.

Yes. He is #12, Team Goring.

Rinkrat's photos pay off. I was able to recognize him by looking at his face. Thanks for the clarification zziggy33.

Same for me, I don't look at his number. Didn't notice his change.
