That'd be cool for one night if we could get it to snow in L.A.! Here's some concept art I did for this idea..
I did some quick ones from the Coliseum tonight..

Excellent!!
wonder how many Angelenos would show up? probably just us LGKers!
I BELIEVE I'll have another beer!
That would be awesome. Give another 5 years or so and there might be a chance of it happening. The Winter Classic by definition is gimicky and when the current "back to it's roots" outdoor game gets old they'll move onto the next gimic, hopefully a SoCal Winter Classic. If they could somehow tie it in with the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl it would be the ultimate gimic. You'd have the trifecta of "look at crazy socal where it is Sunny and 70 on New Years day." The only hiccup wold be if it rained. Otherwise with the ice making truck the NHL has, even if it was forecast to be in the high 70's they shouldn't have a problem.
I would think that this would only happen after the Kings win the Cup. While a Kings v. Ducks game makes sense to me, I'm sure they would play an east coast team for ratings.
Throw a few Ton-Tons' out there and you gots a party!!!
Is that Steve Howe in left field with a rolled up C-note? WTF?
(too soon?)
Do the Kings get to wear the original purple and gold, or gold and purple, sweaters?
An awesome idea... but I'm going to guess we're WAY down on the priority list.
I think you might be a little surprised to be honest. The NHL craves the LA and NY markets and they could do worse than to have the Winter Classic (which so far has been a huge success) out in LA. The only possible hangup that I could see would be attendance. I'm really not sure that it would be an issue though. An outdoor hockey game in LA? What is more strange than that? The NHL could sell the hell out of it. Not to mention it would be easy to get NBC to hand out tickets to their TV show people to pimp their network.
NEVER going to happen... I was listening to the melrose line podcast yesterday and they were talking all about this year's winter classic. Barry mentioned that he was talking to Dan Craig (the ice guru for the nhl) and they were discussing different places it could be in the future... Long story short, Craig said it would need to be in a place no warmer than 50 degress. He said they just can't keep the ice acceptable for nhl players if it goes 50 or higher. Sorry to rain on your parade...
