24Framespersecond.net - THE VIRAL FACTOR: Review
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FjZSPiuQmaAQuote:
It isn't that The Viral Factor isn't without its flaws; it's that it fully embraces the fact that it's basically a glorified action movie. It's a bit smarter than your average action flick, the cast is stronger as a whole, and there's much more tear jerking drama than you may be expecting. It's in the same vein as the A Better Tomorrow remake from last year except there's more explosive action in comparison. Out of all the junk we all have to sit through in a given year, it's a welcome change of pace to not only see a movie like The Viral Factor come along and offer exactly what you're expecting, deliver to the fullest, and even surpass those expectations by the time it's all over. The Viral Factor is a highly combustible, pure adrenaline, balls to the wall action film that should be a must for any action junkie.
This is opening in the US tomorrow, including theaters not that far from me! I may get to see it! Woo!
Loved Kingdom of War 2. Very well written. It is available for streaming on NetFlix.
Review: THE VIRAL FACTOR is explosively infectious
Yeah, I'll be seeing this next week for sure.Quote:
THE VIRAL FACTOR is big, loud and couldn't care less whether you think it's clever or not (and it most certainly isn't). What it delivers is two hours of guns, explosions, car crashes, helicopter chases, running, jumping, screaming, shouting and enough bullets, squibs and blood bags to make John Woo hang his head in shame. There is nobody in Hong Kong making action movies that comes anywhere close to displaying the scope, ambition, or deliciously deranged vision of Dante Lam. And the best news of all is that he's only just beginning to hit his stride.

Rotterdam Review: Takashi Miike's 'Ace Attorney' A Stylish, Bizarre Video Game Adaptation & Legal Satire | The Playlist
http://www.indiewire.com/static/dims...2/file/pwm.jpg
Want to see this BAD.Quote:
“Ace Attorney," which made its world premiere here in Rotterdam, bringing him back to the site of his earliest international acclaim, is a combination bizarre, oddly satisfying video game adaptation and otherworldly legal satire. It’s consistently stylish, frequently corny and always watchable, even as its inspired passages flame out long before its 130 minute plus running time comes to a close; like much of Miike’s big budget work, it is significantly overlong, with flights of fancy that wear thin rather quickly. It provides the most stirring example yet of a filmmaker in full bloom who is perhaps over indulged by his opportunities to make films, whose craft and wit are unsurpassed but whose reputation allows him to work without the limitations that might make his movies more vital and economically structured.

BD Horror News - [OMFG] Awe-Inspiring Trailer For Korean Anthology 'Doomsday Book'!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIS9phSCdQI
Quote:
Just last week we broke the news about a new Korean anthology entitled Doomsday Book, an omnibus sci-fi project by two helmers that looks to blow all of our friggin' mind some time this year.
The brilliant Kim Jee-woon (I Saw the Devil, A Tale of Two Sisters) tells the story of a robot working for a temple who becomes self-aware, while Yim Pil-sung (Hansel & Gretel) follows an innocent young man who becomes a zombie! There's apparently also a tale about a meteor about to crash into Earth.
"Two acclaimed Korean directors unfurl three unique stories of human self-destruction in the modern high-tech era. In a hope to restore the humane compassion in the insusceptible modern age, the film displays an alternative form of genuine humanity. And thus you are stepping into the world of future, where a series of unexpected stories awaits you. All these stories originate from the earth. From the very earth you live on."
It's visually staggering and looks to be one of the few "must sees" of 2012. Watch the striking trailer inside and then tell us what your thoughts are. Pretty friggin' cool, no?!
