Reading a lot of MASTER is shiny but soulless kinda reviews. I think it's another one of those movies that needs repeated viewings to appreciate(nice to see that forcing its way back in the doorway...). Still think that Phillip Seymour Hoffman should be Solomon Grundy if they ever get the Justice League Movie going...
anyway, good thing it ain't going up against LINCOLN because the MASTER should clean up Awards Season.
Seth MacFarlane to Host the Oscars | Collider
Looks like that SNL gig payed off. He has officially suceeded in distancing himself from the crude humor he is known for.
K&T. if you want to change the thread title to the Academy Awards thread (without a year), then... that'd probably work. Or... maybe All Things: Awards or some ****? JD, what do you think? Might as well keep a single running thread instead of starting a new one every year that no one looks at.
I'm cool with All Things:Academy Awards, they happen every year so it's not like it's a one off. And Jo...that's something you share in common w/ Mr. MacFarlane...pretty sure he loves him some him too. Oh, you know there will be singing. He's actually a good choice.
Joaquin Phoenix Says Goodbye To Oscar Chances, Calls Awards "Total Utter Bull****"
Quote:
In a pretty fantastic conversation with Elvis Mitchell at Interview, Phoenix explains why he's not participating in the awards circuit gauntlet. "I'm just saying that I think it's bull****. I think it's total, utter bull****, and I don't want to be a part of it. I don't believe in it. It's a carrot, but it's the worst-tasting carrot I've ever tasted in my whole life. I don't want this carrot. It's totally subjective. Pitting people against each other...It's the stupidest thing in the whole world," he says. "It was one of the most uncomfortable periods of my life when 'Walk the Line' was going through all the awards stuff and all that. I never want to have that experience again. I don't know how to explain it—and it's not like I'm in this place where I think I'm just above it—but I just don't ever want to get comfortable with that part of things"
