Why haven't I heard of this The Girl film?
Nice pic, though.![]()
Orph, did you see the picture of Hopkins as Hitch I posted? Curious as to what you thought.

I don't think Hopkins looks exactly like Hitch, but I get the feeling that he will 'become' him in terms of voice and mannerisms. :D
I want to see a picture of Scarly from the movie too!
And I would so go to that toys/souvenirs shop after watching Psycho.
New Images Of Sienna Miller & Toby Jones As Tippi Hedren & Alfred Hitchcock In 'The Girl'; Hits HBO Oct. 20th | The Playlist
With an October 20th premiere date on HBO now set, new snaps of Sienna Miller as Tippi Hedren and Toby Jones as Alfred Hitchcock have arrived, and in line with the previous images, it all looks appropriately glamorous. Directed by Julian Jarrold ("Becoming Jane," "Red Riding: 1974") and penned by Gwyneth Hughes ("Miss Austen Regrets," "Five Days"), the 90-minute drama for the BBC focuses on the director's obsessive relationship with Tippi Hedren, who starred in "The Birds" and "Marnie." And as Jones explains, the hubris of Hitchcock won't be too far away in his portrayal of the filmmaking legend.
“He knew every single aspect of filmmaking, and I think he thought, ‘Well, I’ll just make her into a good enough actress,” the actor told TVLine. “‘She has limitations as an actress, but I’m so able and so practical that I will be able to transform her to my needs.’”
Toby Jones looks too much like Truman Capote to play Hitch.![]()
As long as he avoids the hat, glasses and scarf, I think he'll be fine.![]()
Tippi Hedren on the abuse she took from Alfred Hitchock: "Today, I'd be a very rich woman" -- BoingBoing
Hedren, who is played by Sienna Miller in the movie, says that Hitch (Toby Jones) apparently made overt sexual advances while working on The Birds and Marnie that were repeatedly rejected. As a result, the director "punished" the contract player by refusing to release her to make other movies, effectively holding Hedren (and her contract) hostage, even after she was done working on Marnie.
I've read about this. Dunno, what really happened. Hitch does have a rep as a perv. On one hand, I can understand, and there's nothing wrong with digging your starring lady, until it goes beyond admiration to something creepy. Stewart, for example, admired Grace Kelly during Rear Window, but wasn't hitting on her.
And funny because Hitch worked with many Hollywood starlets, but it seemed that he really picked on Hedren. And from what I could tell, it wasn't a sexual thing, but a mind game thing, like I made you and I can break thing, and having the power he had he did. And of course that annoys me because he's my favorite director.
Oh, and I found out just a few years ago that Tippi is Melanie Griffith's mother. Maybe, I was just naive, but didn't know this!
