Yes, the hitcher was eaten/smeared along the highway, I saw that one coming from a mile away.

I thought it was refreshing to take a break from the prison and woodbury, seeing morgan, and the dynamic of being all alone in the apocalypse was pretty interesting. Did anyone else find it ironic that rick gave michonne crap for eating a bag of chips (or whatever she was eating), meanwhile, he was jacking a good amount of morgan's weapons and ammo?

While this story arc was important, it just kind of sucks it happened after a slow episide. The last 2 episodes were slow to develop, but an important development. Rick is back. Seeing Morgan in the condition he was in. It was definitely a wakeup call for Rick's mental health. Between the supplies and the Carl/Michonne arc, it added to the core story. Its just too bad Woodbury was completely ignored. I think at some point Rick will go back to check on Morgan at some point Im sure. Hopefully it will follow more like the comics and Morgan will join the group.

I think people are proclaiming Rick healed a little too quickly. I think his frantic pleading to a way further gone Morgan was Rick looking into a mirror. Hence his impassioned 'you gotta heal' speech. I think he was of the mind that if there was no hope for Morgan, how could he ever heal? The turning a blind eye to the hitchiker was Rick further miring himself into the 'no room for caring for anyone else' downward spiral that he has been sliding into. In order to move forward, he has to get his compassion back. I don't think he's quite there yet.

I assume the eventual reunion with Tyrese and company will see him fully healed.

On Talking Dead they were speculating just what you are saying jd. That Rick's pleading to Morgan was really talking to himself. The difference they thought was the shock of Morgan saying no brought Rick back.

The thing they said about the hitchhiker was that everyone realizes it is a new world, which compassion is too big a commodity to just give to anyone, especially someone you don't know. I don't know - seems realistic that you would have to act differently in this new world but it isn't very Christian.

For me, I would rather not live in a world like the show portrays. My wife and I agreed we would rather just be shot in the head.

Full disclaimer...didn't watch Talking, so I wasn't just reciting their discussion.

And I know you have to be careful in the new world with who you choose to let in...but an able bodied male has to be at a premium, especially with the war on Woodbury. The prison has lots of cells for introduction periods. And Rick(depending on where they go with the story) may already have lost a good ally in Tyrese. You HAVE to replenish your numbers, so sooner or later Rick is gonna have to start bringing in strays. I just thought the complete disregard they had for the traveler was pretty repugnant. At least hear him out. Imagine the elation that you might be saved, only to have it ripped away...twice. Even Darryl went to the aid of the travellers on the road. Dunno...just seemed heartless. And then they casually take his bag. It just seemed out of sorts when he just went to great lengths to save someone in the form of Morgan, when it honestly would have been more humane to end his suffering.

Actually totally agree with you and find it interesting. I have had great debates with my boss over this idea. He says in the brave new world you would have to be completely untrusting and non-Christian like (ala Shane). This is one of the reasons I wouldn't want to be around - not sure I could NOT show compassion without being jacked up for it.

It was a great episode...and I'm kinda pissed about AMC telling us, and spoiling the surprise of having Morgan back for at least one more episode. In regards to the hitchhiker, yeah it sucked that they left him TWICE, but as my wife said....he's just another mouth to feed. And also, every reason that Rick pointed out to Morgan as to why he should have joined them in the prison, should have been enough for them to help out the hitchhiker. With that said, I think they would have helped him out the thrid time had he not been eaten.
