You have to balance the action with character progression, and even coming from someone who typically prefers the character aspect over the "blow stuff up" one, there's just entirely too much time spent on moping characters just sitting around talking or otherwise doing nothing.

I think the two best characters, in my humble opinion, are Glenn and Darryl but between Glenn's horribly hackneyed "I froze up out there because of what you said to me BAWWWWW DONT TOUCH ME" act and Darryl's personality being so volatile that it fails the whole suspension-of-disbelief thing.......they lose whatever "momentum" they built up in previous episodes. I get what they're trying to do, but it seems like all that time spent on Darryl being the "good guy" looking for Sophia and comforting Carol was wasted. I hope roenick is right on this front, and there's some actual payoff for the rawr-I'm-angry-for-some-reason hissy fits.

And yeah, the face rip was awesome.
You have to read the source material. If anything it's even more bogged down by the 'handwringing/teeth gnashing'. Rick gets soooooooooo bogged down by morality and indecision that you start rooting for the walkers.

Wait....we're not supposed to be rooting for them? All they want is just a little nibble, and for that they get a cap busted.

Ok...this weeks Comic Book Men was a lot better. It's a fun show. Warning: If you are not a Kevin Smith fan then you will probably not be a fan of this. Likeable, relatable nerds, comic books and hockey. Loving it.

David Morrissey Cast As The Governor In ‘The Walking Dead’ | Geeks of Doom

    Wow...fizzle.

And speaking of...last night's episode was just as weak as the first half of the season. Don't believe the hype about the action picking up. It's still the same talktalktalktalk, but they figured, "oh, let's throw some zombies in...that'll quiet everyone down." Look, they need to leave the farm. This story has stagnated to the point of inertia and they keep trying to manufacture drama by having the same heated arguments again and again.

Comic Book Men is quickly moving up the list of things to watch. Don't know...maybe it's all the Devils 'stuff' all over the place or maybe it's cause these guys are all really natural on camera but I am digging it. The subdued/podcast version of K.Smith is a lot more palatable too.

    BTW:SPOILERS...

Rick and Shane determining that the 2 guards were turned by scratches was a huge mistake. With any close quarter attack(Shane on the bus) how are we to believe he did not get scratched. Plus, if it's that easy to transmit, how was Shane not turned after repeatedly rubbing his open wound on the door jamb that the walkers were touching and licking. It's that kind of detail attention that is running this show into an early grave.

The third episode of Comic Book Men was indeed a lot of fun, and I don't even care about comics.

Yeah, I thought the "they must have been scratched" deal to be odd and totally not in line with the show has always shown: you need to to get bit.
