    HOT DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!

AMC Renews HELL ON WHEELS for Third Season | Collider

AMC has decided to renew its Reconstruction-Era Western drama Hell on Wheels for another season, despite speculation that the final episode of its current season was potentially its last. The series itself seemed to be unsure of its future by concocting a season finale that could have reasonably acted as a series finale. In fact, given the ways things left off, it may difficult to see where a third season would even take the show.

Hell on Wheels‘ viewer numbers suffered this year thanks to a lack of The Walking Dead as a strong lead-in, as well as the kerfuffle with Dish Network, which dropped AMC for several months. For more on the show’s second season (spoiler-free!), hit the jump.

I reviewed the first few episodes of Hell on Wheels‘ second season and though I found some aspects promising, overall it didn’t seem a worthy contender on a night already jammed-packed with exceptional programming (a shame, because the first season started out quite well). To help with ratings, AMC might consider moving the show to another night or scheduling it to pair with The Walking Dead again in 2013.

Despite strong performances from Anson Mount and Common to anchor the series, Hell on Wheels has never really felt like it’s fulfilled its potential, with too much time spent on secondary characters that were unlikable or not well fleshed out, and resorting to extraordinary amounts of violence to cover up narrative holes.

Still, congrats to Hell on Wheels for getting another 10 episodes to tell its harrowing tale of life in the west at the end of the 19th century — hopefully the third season will find its way a little more clearly than the second.

I'm just hoping that at some point they give Michonne something to do besides awkwardly cutting of a couple of heads and screaming "We WANT our WEAPONS!".

Yeah, she hasn't been given much to do yet except that feral stare. But you can blame that on Kirkman's writing for the comic book and them, so far, sticking to the barely more than a cool idea character. Hopefully she will get fleshed out a bit more but the Woodbury setting does not help at all.

And...HELL ON WHEELS RENEWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a very happy camper. Watch that show!!! S1 on Netflix.

Walking Dead exec reveals what's next now that we're in Woodbury | Blastr

Some of the coolest stories in The Walking Dead comic ramp up once we meet the Governor and the town of Woodbury. For fans on the TV series, we're finally there. So what's next?

The series' creator Robert Kirkman has chatted with MTV to talk about the aftermath of all the shiny new stuff we saw this past Sunday, and how it will start a fundamental evolution in the series going forward.

"For the first two seasons, this has been Rick's show. We've known that cast. Coming into the third season and picking up with those characters and finding out where they are and what's going on with them has been very important. We're adding a lot of new elements into the show this season, and we've been very careful to parse them out in a way that isn't too jarring. We definitely wanted to get back into the Walking Dead show we know and love before we started into the crazy evolution of this new Walking Dead that people are going to be blown away by."
Totally ready to love this show again...don't let me down.

AMC Renews ‘Hell on Wheels’ For Third Season

However, Deadline is reporting that “Hell on Wheels” creators, Joe and Tony Gayton are relinquishing their roles as executive producers on the series. However, John Shiban will remain with the series as the showrunner.

The report notes that the Gaytons may remain on the series as consulting producers, but the duo recently sold a drama project to NBC about college graduate who finds himself acting as a courier for a criminal organization.
Ok, that is slightly discouraging...but the showrunner is staying aboard and I am not sure, but I don't think they wrote all the episodes so hopefully the quality will stay the same if not get better. With the way the finale' went out there is a lot of room for new characters.

To be fair, she can only do one of those things at any one time. Maybe someone can make a picture or a video of her doing "We WANT our WEAPONS" and Dany doing "I WANT MY DRAGONS". Optional: "GIVE ME BACK MY SON!"

I think you get more than a '4' for murdering a group of soldiers in cold blood, not to mention the helicopter pilot just to have another head for the collection. The episode did a very good job of building up to the governor being evil, but it might have been even more effective if they had waited an episode before having him do anything really bad. Although that might have made the episode lack any kick and people would have complained.

Rooker is fantastic, as is the guy playing the governor. I am not sold on the scientist character.

The next episode should be both storylines, back and forth. That is usually how shows do these things - you can't leave major characters out of entire episodes over and over. Episode two got the prison storyline fully established, episode three got the Woodbury storyline fully established, and now it is time to roll with them.

There is a neighborhood called Woodbury right next to mine.

Maybe I am dead inside, but I wasn't particularly distressed by the massacre of the army guys. It's a different world. You bring a military presence into Woodbury and the next thing you know you are occupied. It was cold, but the rational thing to do. So, I still put it at about a 4...unpleasant, but necessary.

Maybe in a different world you are allowed to kill fellow humans when they are a threat to your life, but not when they are merely a threat to your power. We know nothing about the army guys other than that they suck so much they could not gun down the moron that walked right up to them and started shooting with a handgun. If the governor was not such a power-mad sociopath, maybe having several more trained gunmen would help keep everyone alive against zombies.

I assume that part of the reason we see him murder the soldiers is because that tells us how he responds to large groups of capable armed outsiders, so it might not be good for Rick and company to stumble into him.

Fair enough...I guess you are more of a 'RICK' and I am more of a 'GOVERNOR'. The one thing I agree with you about is that, yeah...those army guys went down pretty easy.
