I am 4/8 into Broadchurch now after last night. I have the final 4 on the PVR already since Showcase aired them over 4 weeks.

In my best Peterah Griffen, "FREAKIN' SWEET!"

I am reading the book that they are supposedly basing the movie on. It is ... um ... very much a John Luther kind of case ...

So maybe I am a bit jaded because I am such a huge fan of Elba's as well as the show Luther but this interview is a fascinating interview about an actor, his craft and his on-screen persona definition. The character of John Luther is compelling and almost a trainwreck in motion. And the beauty of it is the stories are completely real and incredibly frightening, so much so that Idris admits he can't play Luther all that often. Really fascinating for those of us who don't have acting instincts or chops.

Oh and I love he talks the James Bond rumors. I never watched The Wire. I imagine he was good but can anyone tell me of Elba's performance in that show?

Elba was one of the best on a show that was filled with a LOT of good performances. Definitely worth checking out the whole run. I still think the Wire is a tad overrated but good nonetheless.

LUTHER Season 3 Review. LUTHER Stars Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson | Collider

The BBC’s compelling crime drama Luther returns to American shores by pulling a half-Netflix, if you will. You can binge, but only after four days: BBC America will air the four-part miniseries (also know as Season Three) on consecutive nights. It’s a nice schedule for rabid viewers, particularly as the show’s stakes have never been higher.

On the flip side, Luther is not without its flaws. There are those who have said the show can be unnecessarily and cartoonishly violent (criticism I’ve lobbed at shows like Sons of Anarchy and Boardwalk Empire) while wanting to remain serious. But while the third season certainly doesn’t shy away from these moments, it also retains, as it always has, a good sense of what fans want to see when all is said and done. Hit the jump for more on the show’s potentially polarizing final season.
    Tomorrow...set yer VCR's.
