    Default All Things: BBCAmerica

    Who watched?! I must discuss!

Sammy, I went back a few pages and didn't see an "All things: BBCAmerica" thread. Shall I turn this into that?

I think we were discussing it in the general tv thread. I stopped watching it when my DVR took a crap and i never bothered to re schedule the series recording.

Thanks, StripperBob! What about Ripper Street? That being discussed there, too?

S1 has aired all 10 eps already hasn't it? It's weird to see it on BBC America, when it's shot in Toronto with a mostly Canadian cast.

Yeah Jo...actually a BBC America thread would be cool. I gave up on Orphan Black about 4 eps in. I may go back and rewatch. But if ya wanna talk Ripper Street I am all in on that(LOVELOVELOVE). Bob likes Copper more, and with Donal Logue joining the cast I think it might get better...But yeah, there are a few of us that dig the Beeb so if you wanna start a club I say cool. Just started on Sherlock...thats BBC too innit? Should I have stuck with Orphan Black? Lots of praise and the chick won some sort of acting award. Gimme an earful JoJo...what's so good about it?

I'll change this thread over then. It seems like BBCAmerica has some good stuff on it that a lot of you watch.

I have yet to see Copper, tho I want to. I don't know much about it yet, tho. Is this the 2nd season? It seems like a lot of what I watch is now on hiatus so I am down to start this one. I haven't seen Sherlock, either :(

    I looooooved Ripper Street, tho.

Orphan Black...lemme try this without giving anything away...

At first, I was like "OK, this...with all the "twins"...I am going to get lost..." but I kept with it and it did get going. Some of it seems a bit scattered, but I think it was because they just wanted to get the basics down and get you involved with a few of story lines quickly. Obviously it was the "set up" first season. Toward the end, some questions were answered, and I found myself thinking "YOU'RE TELLING US THAT ALREADY!?" but then how the season ended...it made sense. You had to know what you did, when you did. Now there's a whole new series of WTF!? for the next season. IMO, it's a clever show and once you get the basics down, it's easy to follow. Honestly, I think the scattered feeling, while maybe irritating to some, helped me enjoy the show more. You've gotta figure, for the twins, their lives are so completely all over the place, that I think it just helped bring you into their crazy, ****ed up world even more. I feel like the show took a few episodes to really get going, so you might have JUST stopped a bit soon, Sammy. What was happening in the last episode you watched? Give it another go when you can, tho. If anything, it's different than a lot out there, which I appreciate.

Now, Tatiana Maslany... good lord. It's not just a matter of her being in different costumes, wigs and make-up... she completely BECOMES each twin. Mannerisms, speech, personalities, all different and she does them all flawlessly. It's really quite nifty. She's great.

Yeah...I liked it a little. The split screen stuff was a little 'tv' but ok. At first her gay bff was just too WeHo for my tastes but he started to grow on me. I didn't stop watching because I didn't want to watch anymore, it just kept f'n up my dvr when a hockey game was on. I kept meaning to grab a repeat, but like Bob, it just wasn't urgent. Let's see, last I saw she had met the soccer mom/dread scientist and was bringing them the case(?).

Copper is good. But for me, it was like the younger/sexier/slightly lesser version of Ripper Street. Seemed a little shallow to me after RS with it's more sophisticated characters. Plenty to like...just ask Bob, we are at odds over the 2 shows. Second season is coming up and I have high hopes. I think they are going to grow it up a little bit.

For what its worth I do like Ripper street as well. TWC has Orphan on demand, looks like it is time to get back to it.

Yeah...it's standard def though. Learned the hard way when i watched Copper. And of course, once I finished...it was on Netflix a few weeks later. Sorry Bob, didn't mean to imply you didn't like Ripper, just that you preferred Copper.
