i like sudeikas and samberg (the latter mostly for the digital shorts and lonely island, and for LI, i actually prefer jorma).
Have to fess up...the recent SNL with Martin Short hosting made me laugh like I haven't laughed in decades at SNL. First off, kudos for the inspired choice of Short. Not some clueless star pimping a movie, a talented former cast member whose enthusiasm was infectious. There was a quick callback to Ed Grimley...but a sketch woulkd have been nice. Small complaint. And yes, the show ran out of gas after Weekend Update(good lord can you please bring back Norm MacDonald to do it...) but I had already practically peed myself, especially during the Bennet brothers sketch and Bill Hader almost losing his **** during the Royal nether region sketch. I have been very critical, so I have to give credit where it is due. Please, more inspired hosts, like Short...and Louis C.K./Seth Macfarlane, and I may actually tune in every once in a while.
Glad you wrote this because as a long time SNL hater....this was a good episode and probably the funniest I have seen in years. I have to laugh though....Kristen Wigg's cameo she has like 1 effing line and she needs to read an cue card? As for some of the past episodes...I watched the Seth Mcfarlane season opener and it really only confirmed my suspicions that SNL sucked. You have an incredibly funny guy and the writers just mail the whole episode in. As the season premiere....these clowns had plenty of time to write some great stuff and just failed miserably. The monologue they have McFarlane sing a song only made funny by the fact he did family guy voices. In the hat sketch, it was only made funny by bringing out the Gangam style guy. A few chuckles here and there but once again....as a season premiere is it too much to ask for some originality? Enjoyed the Martin Short episode though....probably the funniest they've had in years and once again largely made possible by Martin Short. In the early days on SNL they would hit homeruns with Buck Henry as host. Hell even when George Carlin was host he did a monologue he wrote and never appeared in any sketches at all.
Bill Hader is NOT Doing the BAYWATCH Movie | Collider
Earlier today, The Wrap reported Bill Hader was going to star in Paramount’s Baywatch movie that’s being directed by Reno 911! co-creator and star Robert Ben Garant. They said he would be playing the role David Hasselhoff played on the long running TV series. However, when I reached out to confirm the story, Hader’s rep (who also reps Garant) told me it wasn’t true and the script isn’t even finished yet. According to The Wrap, the Baywatch movie will “follow lifeguards exploring an oil rig of the Malibu coast that turns out to be a meth lab. Jeremy Garelick and Peter Tolan both wrote drafts of the script, which Garant has revisited.”
I’m a huge Bill Hader fan and would love to see him take the lead in a big Hollywood movie. However, I’m not convinced this is the right project. More as we hear it.
