I keep hearing/reading that the Alamo Drafthouse is looking at locations in California.
AICN & The Alamo Drafthouse Presents: SUPER 8 INSPIRATIONS! You're gonna love this!
Hey folks, Harry here... I loved the hell out of SUPER 8, I get to run my review on June 1st, but I have to tell you that I flipped for the film. Some will criticize the nostalgic awesome that the film plays in, but not me. I love looking back, remembering and most of all celebrating the films that inspire the artists and directors of today. SUPER 8 isn't any particular film from my past, but it conjures warm blanket awesomes from that period of film, while being an entirely new story.
SO - I proposed this screening notion. Let's watch 4 of the films from JJ Abrams list of inspirations for SUPER 8...

The 5 Minutes Game:
Memorial Day 2011 Edition!
Summer's around the corner, and you know how the Cinefamily loves to usher in the new season: by busting out the patio grill, and playing The Five Minutes Game. What's all this about a game, you ask? We're firm believers in the concept of "every movie is interesting for at least its first five minutes" -- those fascinating moments when you're still entering the new world a film presents you, and trying to figure out what the hell's going on in it. What we're gonna do is choose fifteen movies you've likely never seen before (with most, if not all of them unavailable on DVD), line 'em up, and show you only the first five minutes of each (not counting their opening credits.) After that, you, the audience, gets to vote on which film out of the fifteen we all then watch in its entirety. So, bring something to cook on our grill, and let's get started!

The Egyptian is doing a boatload of Hitchcock double features this month.
Winter's Bone: The Complete Musical Score of the Motion Picture, performed live - Tickets - The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever - Los Angeles, CA - June 7th, 2011 Hollywood Forever
Guess this will get me to finally put this disc in the DVD player. I've been wanting to see it, but other films have had higher priority. No longer. This intimate evening of music will feature Marideth Sisco, Blackberry Winter, Bo Brown, Van Colbert, Dennis Crider, Tedi May, and Linda Stoffel - the original Ozarks musicians from the Winter’s Bone film, playing their authentic blend of traditional Americana in what will be their first ever North American tour. Bear witness to a legacy that spans generations in the making, performed by the heirs of the Great American Songbook.
The show will be held in a beautiful Masonic hall on the second floor of a Masonic building built in 1927.

Meet the New Boss | CHUD.com
is a little worrying. Bigfoot Ent. programs the Crest for the most part. I have always liked CHUD because they were impartial. Owned by a more Corporate corporation, I expect the quality of the site to decline. Hopefully not, but a strong voice, as far as unbiased entertainment news, may be disappearing.
This isn't theatrical, but I expect it will appeal to the same people:
Drive-in Double Features Introduction
Every Thursday night this June, Turner Classic Movies is doing a double feature of monster films. A bunch of them are Godzilla spin/rip offs, but then there's some **** like Tarantula that sounds like it has some potential.
