George Nolfi to Direct Darren Aronofsky-produced Facebook Thriller XOXO | Collider

After picking up the project nearly a year ago, Lionsgate has now attached The Adjustment Bureau director George Nolfi to helm and oversee a rewrite of the social media thriller XOXO. The project was initially written by Black Swan scribe Mark Heyman on spec, and was pitched as a modern day Fatal Attraction that explores the dark side of virtual relationships as it follows an up-and-coming executive who blurs the line between his real-life fiancé and his online affair. The pic will utilize “stylized visual sequences” to portray the online interactions, bringing a whole new meaning to the term “poke.”

Hit the jump for more on this “Facebook thriller” that has Darren Aronofsky and Michael London (Sideways) onboard as producers.

The story of XOXO centers on a rising executive who enjoys a little online flirtation from time-to-time despite the fact that he’s engaged. He then “meets an alluring woman on Facebook and the two begin a virtual relationship, but the protag soon discovers that his Internet romance is seeping into his actual life in a deadly way.” Nolfi penned both The Bourne Ultimatum and Ocean’s Twelve before making his directorial debut on last year’s The Adjustment Bureau, which he also wrote. Variety reports that Nolfi will direct XOXO and oversee a rewrite by Heyman.

BTW, JD, do you think Tarantino is a better director that Aronofsky?

Don't get me wrong, I like Tarantino, and all, but I re watched The Wrestler the other day for the millionth time, and I would go as far to say that it's better than anything Tarantino's done. The ending is perfect and gets to me.

"The world doesn't give a **** about me."

    "I am here, really here."

    "You hear that?"

    Guns N Roses starts playing.

Lol, but it doesn't help, that my sister works for Universal Studios and came across QT during a Hollywood thing and he just ignored her when she said hello like the self absorbed guy he is. While on the other hand she later came across DA and he responded, smiled, and said hey.

But Aronofsky is from Brooklyn like my mother so has that Brooklyn charm, haha! :P

Outside of The Wrestler and The Fountain(both of which I LOVED)...not a tremendous DA fan. I have yet to see a QT movie I haven't liked. I think QT is something special.

You didn't like Requiem for a Dream? Ellen Burstyn pours her heart on screen and breaks down. And so does Mickey Rourke in the Wrestler and so did Rachel Weisz in the Fountain.

I don't know, it bothers me when people refer to QT as the next Kubrick. A Clockwork Orange changed my life and so did Requiem for a Dream, and the Fountain, so much that I choked up. QT entertains me, but I honestly don't think any of his movies have changed my life.

Like I said, in my opinion, DA is the closest that we have to a modern Kubrick.

BTW, lol, I want to hear Adgy's opinion on this.
