I don't know, it bothers me when people refer to QT as the next Kubrick. A Clockwork Orange changed my life and so did Requiem for a Dream, and the Fountain, so much that I choked up. QT entertains me, but I honestly don't think any of his movies have changed my life.

Like I said, in my opinion, DA is the closest that we have to a modern Kubrick.

BTW, lol, I want to hear Adgy's opinion on this.
Yeah, knew you weren't going to like my answer. I just don't think, until recently, DA has really been a mainstream filmmaker. One thing that Kubrick did was make out of the mainstream movies for mainstream crowds. Of course the landscape was different too. If there's one thing QT does is bridge the gap between arthouse and joe weekender.

I think comparing Tarantino and Aronofsky is like comparing apples and oranges. I wouldn't necessarily compare either of them to Kubrick, but if I had to choose who is closer, I'd go with Aronofsky, due to the depth of his movies.

How about these for whom you prefer: Aronofsky vs. Malick; Tarantino vs. Coen brothers?

Desert-island question: Whose oeuvre would you take between Aronofsky and Tarantino? Among all directors?

I agree, although JD's point about combining mainstream and arthouse stands.

I've yet to see a Malick film that didn't bore me, sadly. Think I'd pick QT over the Coens, but not by a lot.

    Tarantino.

    Among all directors?

Thanks. I forgot to mention this. Definitely agree. Tarantino is gifted at this.

    Aronofsky > Coen Brothers > Park> Tarantino > Malick.

NOAH Set Images Featuring Ray Winstone | Collider

Winstone=badass. Add Crowe and this is a movie I simply have to see.
