THIS MUST BE THE PLACE French Trailer
This...is going to be hilarious.I’m still not sure what to make the goth Nazi-hunter dramedy This Must Be the Place. The reaction to the film at Cannes was bafflement and The Playlist thought “the film was pretty much like three different movies disjointedly mashed together.” Judging by the trailer, I can certainly see how that would be an issue. However, my greatest concern lies with Sean Penn who plays the lead role of Cheyenne, a former rock star who goes looking for a Nazi war criminal who tortured his father at Auschwitz. Penn’s delivery along with his hair and make-up screams at the viewer “I AM ACTING,” and the performance rings similar to his full-retard work from I Am Sam. In all fairness, The Playlist says the movie isn’t as bad as you’d expect, but my expectations at this point are for a total disaster.
Sam Rockwell in Talks for BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY
Sorry, but for this project, Rockwell is an upgrade and a better fit.Sam Rockwell is in negotiations with Occupant Films to star in the black comedy/thriller Better Living Through Chemistry. Jeremy Renner, who was previously slated for the role, has jumped ship to maintain a slightly more manageable schedule (he is currently on board Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, The Avengers, and The Bourne Legacy, just to name a few). Starring opposite Jennifer Garner and Michelle Monaghan, Variety reports that Rockwell will play a small town pharmacist whose unhappy marriage (to Monaghan) leaves him vulnerable to the alluring wiles of a sexy trophy wife (Garner) and the highs of prescription drugs. Chaos breaks loose when their affair escalates and the unfaithful couple hatches a plot to murder her husband. The film will be a debut feature from writer-directors Geoff Moore and David Posamentier. Judi Dench is on board to narrate the pic.

First Look: Michael Fassbender And Carey Mulligan In Steve McQueen’s ‘Shame’ > The Playlist
“Shame” follows Fassbender’s character Brandon, a young man living in New York City trying to overcome his sexual compulsions. When his younger sister (Mulligan) comes to visit him, his new life turns upside down.
More pictures at the link. "Hunger" was great and Fassbender and Mulligan are great, so expectations are high for this, too.
New Poster & More Images From George Clooney’s ‘Ides Of March’ Starring Ryan Gosling > The Playlist
Hits theaters out here on Oct 7th.Hot off the film’s inclusion in the TIFF line up and the new look at Ryan Gosling, the marketing for George Clooney‘s upcoming political thriller “The Ides Of March” is now kicking into gear with the unveiling of a new aesthetically attractive poster and a handful of images providing first look at many of the supporting including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Max Minghella, Jeffrey Wright and Evan Rachel Wood.
Clooney has also taken to discussing his adaptation of Beau Willimon‘s play noting that ”the major issues (of the movie) are some of the major issues we face every day including questions of morality. We’re not trying to be polarizing, [in fact] this could have taken place in a lawyer’s office. It’s just more fun in the political arena…but it’s more about process than platform.”
John Cusack & Nicolas Cage To Star In Serial Killer Pic ‘The Frozen Ground’ > The Playlist
Deadline reports that John Cusack and The Wigged One are in talks to star in the chilling serial pic “The Frozen Ground” (get it?!). Written by Scott Walker, who will also make his directing debut, the film is based on the real life killer/predator Robert Hansen, who over the course of twelve years abducted, tortured and raped over twenty four women, flying them to the Alaskan wilderness and hunted them down before killing them. Cusack will play the killer, while Cage will take the role of a “principled and dedicated” Alaska State Trooper who comes across a teen who is a survivor, and together they track down Cusack.
