Michael Fassbender’s Next Film Is ‘Trespass Against Us’; Brendan Gleeson, Sean Harris & More Join Cast | The Playlist

Titled “Trespass Against Us," ScreenDaily reports that the film will shoot this summer, and joining the cast is Brendan Gleeson, Rory Kinnear (“Skyfall”), Lyndsey Marshal (“The Hours”), Sean Harris (“Prometheus”) and Killian Scott (“Calvary”).

“Tresspass Against Us” is set across three generations of the rowdy Cutler family, who live as outlaws, hunting hares, ram-raiding stately homes and taunting the police. As the letter of the law finally catches up with Chad (Fassbender), he is torn between the archaic principles of his father (Gleeson) and what he believes is best for his children.

As previously reported, The Chemical Brothers will be scoring the film. Fassbender just finished shooting “Macbeth,” is currently shooting “Slow West,” and coming up soon is "Prometheus 2," "Assassin's Creed" and sometime after that Derek Cianfrance's "The Light Between Oceans."

Tom Hardy In Talks To Reteam With Leonardo DiCaprio In Alejandro González Iñárritu's 'The Revenant' |The Playlist

According to Schmoes Know, Tom Hardy "is in serious talks" to join Leonardo DiCaprio in Alejandro González Iñárritu's "The Revenant." Based on the book by Michael Punke, the story follows Hugh Glass, a 19th century fur trapper who is mauled by a grizzly bear, left for dead and then robbed. When he survives against all odds, he sets out on a treacherous journey to exact revenge on his betrayers. There's no word yet on what role Hardy might take, but we presume he's swapping in for Sean Penn, who was initially involved in the movie a few years ago.

Watch: New Trailer, Poster & Images For 'The Drop' Starring Tom Hardy & James Gandolfini|The Playlist

You're going to have to watch the trailer at the link.

Anyway, a new international trailer has dropped for the movie, bringing a fresh look at the Dennis Lehane adaptation, directed by "Bullhead" helmer Michaël Roskam. The story is something you might expect from Lehane too, following a dude just trying to walk the right path, who gets embroiled in a robbery gone wrong and the consequences that come with that. It's all about sins and trying to move to your future, even as your past haunts you. Potentially intriguing material, and certainly the kind of stuff we want to see this cast bite into.

"The Drop" arrives on September 12th.

Rachel Weisz Sees 'Light Between Oceans' With Michael Fassbender For Director Derek Cianfrance|The Playlist

The Wrap reports that Rachel Weisz is in early discussions to join the film, which also has Alicia Vikander on board. Based on the book by M.L. Stedman, and set in the West Coast of Australia around WWI, the story centers on a lighthouse keeper and his wife and the moral consequences they must face when they find a 2-month-old girl and a dead body in a rowboat, and decide to raise the baby as their own. The blessing soon turns tragic and presumably rips the relationship apart. Should the deal come through, Weisz will play the mother of the child. No word yet on when production might begin or where this will fit in Fassy's busy schedule, but it looks like it's picking up forward movement.

Payback has been on a lot lately. He's still listed as the director. Did I miss something?

Yeah, Payback has 2 distinctly different releases. The one you see on cable was hijacked by Mel Gibson. Helgeland's version was later released on dvd as Payback:Straight Up...

Payback (1999 film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Director's Cut[edit]The Director's Cut (dubbed Payback: Straight Up) has a largely similar foundation but explores the betrayal of Porter through flashbacks and most significantly removes the Bronson character from the screen. Instead a female voice (belonging to Sally Kellerman) on the telephone replaces Kris Kristofferson. The scene with the booby-trapped telephone is eliminated, as is the kidnapping of Bronson's son. In this version, Val kills Rosie's dog Porter.

The simplified story line ends with Porter collecting his money at an arranged drop in a train station where he has several shootouts with syndicate hit-men staking out the station. He is seriously wounded and seemingly near death before being driven away by Rosie with the money. The Director's Cut also lacks the theatrical version's voice-over narration by Porter.

A June 4, 2012 look at "movies improved by directors' cuts" by the AV Club described Payback: Straight Up as "a marked improvement on the unrulier original."[1]
In a discussion that has prolly been lost to the cull we all pretty much agreed that the studio/Gibson made the right decisions.
