Yep...pretty much says F' you to Walking Dead limping towards a good final 20 minutes. I love Sons, and Archer, and Hell on Wheels, Ripper Street, etc......but if you want to track a show that has simply gone from strength to strength and developed characters, backstories, mythology all fleshed out with just some of the most Fred Astaire/Gene Kelly graceful dialogue mixed with tough guy brilliance, JUSTIFIED really has no equal. I do realize that the Boyd/Raylen dynamic is going to have to have a winner and a loser but I just hope that it comes at the close of their run. Even if that is next season. One cannot exist without the other. Boyd is Raylen's Joker...yes folks it IS that good.

And Adgy, although Patton was typecast(again!!!! and we have had that conversation) I really think they managed to finally use him to his strengths while flipping the script at the same time. So yeah, agree with you wholeheartedly. How in the HELL they managed to

    SPOILERS

end that episode without a casualty(besides Yolo) is beyond the **** out of me. But there is going to be a serious culling before the next 2 finish playing out. Read on a site earlier that there is speculation

    again

    spoilers

that Drew is Raylen's real daddy, with the conversation in the car about Raylen's mom's 'proclivities' and Arlo having to defend her, when Drew and the other ex sherriff(who killed Arlo) were talking, presented as evidence. The only good thing about that is that Jim Beaver would prolly stay on the cast in some facility...which would be great. But who knows. I honestly watch this show with no idea where they are gonna right turn it. LOVE LOVE LOVE Justified.

Couldn't agree more. About Patton, too.

With regards to comparing it to The Walking Dead... it's amazing to me how the great little moments of character development that we see in The Walking Dead, like with Tyrese last episode, frequently do little to push the plot forward. Ok, now we know Tyrese is suspicious of the Governor and is eventually going to leave Woodbury for the prison group. I mean, we knew that because of the comics, but if you haven't read the comics, you didn't know. At least until the last episode. But it hasn't happened yet and who knows when it will?

And those moments are great, but like I said, they do almost nothing to push the plot forward. When they do do something, it's almost always incremental.

On Justified, though, that is never the case. We got to see some great **** with Tim and Colt, for example, this season. Great moments that give us insight into the character. And it ALWAYS works to advance the plot. Tim meets his buddy at rehab, and we learn he's got a soft spot for ****ed up veterans, but at the same time he runs into Colt who we're learning is an addict and who is there for something completely plot related!

It's just night and ****ing day between the two of them.

Yeah...I really don't want Colt to go. That showdown could use a little more brewin' time. Always have liked Eldard. The, 'I'd want a young Depardieu to play me' line was hella funny and spot on too. Johnny, man...love cousin Johnny...but his position has been sorely comprimised too.

Forgot to mention last week, that Nick Searcy's rant about Drew being 'a hell of a man' was hilarious.

I know someone who couldn't get into s1 and didn't stick with it...and I cannot get her to buy in no matter how much I plead. Her loss.
I done got my older bald white guys who have been in awful sitcoms confuzzled!

I don't know if there ever was an episode of Justified I did not love. I wonder if Timothy Olyphant almost made the mistake of not taking the part because he had already played a western lawman for several years on a television show.

JD, do you know how many more seasons Justified is signed up for?

Because after yesterday's episode and the previews for the season finale, I'm wondering... you think the bad guys maybe kill Winona/The baby and next season is all out war? Maybe against or with Boyd (I'm going for with, given the change of heart Eva had)?

I keep thinking that there's no way they'd do that, but this show surprises me a lot, so...

Somewhere amongst these pages should be an article where (I think Graham Yost, but it may have been John Landegraf) basically said they are sketched in for 2 more seasons ideally in order to tell the story they want. It didn't seem as hard and fast as that though. But yeah, I think anything longer than that and you risk the quality. Justified started as a series of one episode stories and slowly built into season long storylines and now it just seems like one entire cohesive story that has a very clear finishing point. Cannot say enough nice things about this show. By the way...F U emmys.
But yeah, Fx previews are clearly to be taken with a grain of salt. They are masterful at misdirection. If you saw the teaser fro last weeks Americans, and then saw the episode...sooooooo tricksy! Shame on you Fx. Awwww...I love you too much to stay mad.

[TV] FX Promises Halloween Event For "American Horror Story: Coven" -Bloody Disgusting

    SPOILERS RE: JUSTIFIED

    SPOILERS

    SPOILERS

So, Justified, albeit a bit of a filler episode, was pretty damned good. The 'I am gonna need google translate if I am going to keep talking to you', line of the night. What was a little sketchy was how Eva got away when Deputy Tim ended poor Colt...damnit Colt you shoulda quit tomorrow. The marshalls seem to have no idea the information ElleMay is holding, and was Boyd really going to deal her to Nicky knowing that she holds Eva's freedom in her hands. THAT is not going to end well and I truly think that will be the fuse that lights the fire that will burn either Boyd or Raylen to the ground. Nicky is REALLY cocky for someone who just keeps ****ing up. There has to be some desperation building there, and according to the preview...the payoff seems to be coming. Will they kill Winona and the baby???? I honestly do not know. Gonna be must watch live tv...not something that happens often.

FX Renews JUSTIFIED, THE LEAGUE, and More; Orders FARGO to Series; Announces New FXX Network | Collider

    ooooh lots of news here

FX orders a 10-episode limited series of Fargo.
FX orders comedy pilots How and Why from Charlie Kaufman, and Chozen from Grant Dekernion, Danny McBride and the team behind Eastbound & Down.
First of all, FX is becoming a triumvirate, with the launch of FXX (which disappointingly is not an edgy all-female channel) which will be aimed at “young adult viewers,” ages 18-34 and will include more comedy programming and movies. FXM continues to go for a slightly more mature audience with programming geared towards the 25-54 age bracket. The original FX will continue to run the gambit, with programming styled towards the 18-49 group that will start to include more miniseries and limited series.

Here’s what that actually means: Justified will remain on FX, while It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League and Legit will all move to FXX. Additionally, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell will now becoming regular late night show, airing five nights a week this fall on FXX.
Additionally, FX will also develop their own app that will act like HBOGo, allowing cable subscribers to watch their content anywhere. There will be plenty of content to watch — in addition to more drama series, all of the old favorites are back as well: Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, Louie, Archer, Wilfred and The Americans.
BTW...those teasers for The Bridge...I'm already hooked!

I can't believe I'm saying it, but I think they can do 3 entire channels of programming and do it right. I wonder if they can use empty space to maybe re-ignite interest in past shows?

Yeah, seriously. I got the DVR ready. Let's do this.

I worry that 3 is stretching a bit. I wish they would have gone for a strong 2 and then rethunk a 3rd at a later time. But, good shows is good shows and I will watch wherever they put them. Hopefully they will get less stingy with re-airs of weekly episodes. POTENTIAL HAZARD of course, is cable/satellite providers messing with subscribers/Fx by doing the "tier" shuffle.
