It can be a bit rough.. One thing that helps me a lot is watching the show subtitled. I don't know if you have that option but it really helps a great deal when different parts of your brain are involved and memorizing.

I was the same way. Started reading the books though and that has helped me reference who everyone is.

Deadmarsh: Same here. She has now become my new celebrity crush... for this week anyways.

Yeah JD, they are going off the page with the story. Esp with everyone's favorite bastard, Lord Snow.
I'm still diggin it though. Can't wait to see how they portray the wildling host.

Santi, I have read all the books and I still get a bit lost occasionally. A good example is Quorin Halfhand/Davos Seaworth and just about everyone outside the Seven Kingdoms. I spent a lot of time reading the family index pages in the books.

I hope the fickle masses stick with it for the long haul. It's all gravy now but the future of this show is EXTREMELY dependant on keeping the numbers up.

By the way, am I the only one this occurs to?
