I know I said I wouldn't bring up the book, but one scene from tonight's episode just royally pissed me off.
**TV SPOILERS AHEAD**
In the book, Jaime and Cersei have gross, but consensual, sex next to Joffrey's body. HOW THE **** DID THAT TRANSLATE TO RAPE. they spent all this time making us like Jaime and poof! all gone!
I know these showrunners are pretty big on showing violence toward women, but this is ****ing insane that they changed it on purpose. If they're trying to drum up some sympathy for Cersei, there are other ways to do it.
"Hockey won't hold still to give you a better look. You wouldn't want it to anyway. It's the action that makes the possibilities endless."
Well... Tyrion seems to be completely screwed now.
I'm preparing myself for Tyrion's death and I'm going to be really pissed if it happens. One of the very few truly likable characters.
And I agree with you, to a point mmmcammy, the scene was a little rape-y, but not as obviously as you may be judging it. If anything, and maybe this says bad things about me, I didn't find Cersei any more sympathetic, just manipulating things through to the end. You could see in the previews for next week's episode that she is using her brother's 'feelings' for her to her own ends. If you wanted to lose sympathy for Jaime, that haircut accomplished far more. He went from scruffy rogue to uptight politician* Lannister in a twinkling. I could have done without the Dornish Guide to Bisexuality. I think it was one of those, 'well...we need some nudity', moments. Tywin sure moved in quickly...let the body cool down first for chrissakes. Shame that Podrick, the one truly good and loyal person in the whole Seven Kingdoms, isn't gonna be King(or is he????). Maybe it's just as well for his sake.
Good episode, except for the glaring omission of Dany's Army and show of might being a few dragons shy...gotta save $$$ cgi ain't cheap.
*corrected from republican.
