Game of Thrones Really Brings Out The Rape Apologists
This article represents the worst that viewers have to offer and while I am on the opposite side of a lot of you, I don't think we have sunk this low. Just to be clear, I would never marginalize rape in any form. I just saw the scene differently. Maybe because I projected what I read as far as the book version goes, onto the scene. And maybe because, as clumsily as it may or may not have been directed(for you to judge), the director has stood behind the thought that it was at least semi consensual. So, once again, different eyes see things a different way. But man, some of the comments people sent to the writer of the article I posted...see mmmcammy/SmytheKing, there's your enemy. This article will enrage you a bit.
That being said...the author of it is not without fault either.
See that speaks to SK's irritation at people getting offended at things other than the rape. But DarkDoug has another embarrassing problem. He was born without the ability to discern nuance in a person. Oh to live in a world so black and white, where a bad person is just bad. Jaime did do terrible things. He did murder King Aerys II…because he was about to burn down the entire city and everyone in it because he was insane. His lackey was about do to his bidding so Jaime stopped him. Was it right? Eh, morally grey. And yes, he did try to murder Bran…because Bran saw something that would get Cersei and her children (also Jaime's children) killed. Was it right? Nope. On so many levels nope. But murdering a child to protect a lover is a far cry from raping said lover. Being in an incestuous relationship is gross but having an off-center moral compass is different than not having one at all. I believe you were thinking of Ser Gregor Clegane, yes?
