That was really a great episode. Sassy Davos is my favorite. The Theon rescue scene kinda fell flat for me, but I'm just kind of tired of that storyline.

Tyrion's trial was done SO well. Peter Dinklage = A+++++

I ended up watching his rant at the end 3 times just because I love it so much. I was a little worried about how Shae's betrayal would be handled, but it was very well done. I've done my fair share of **** talking about the showrunners, but the last two episodes have been fantastic.

Soooooo... who is supposed to fight Tyrion? Is there some person whose job it is to do this, does Tywin choose, does Tyrion choose? Can they refuse to allow it?

I believe Tyrion can choose his champion. I'm not sure if it's the accuser(Cersei), or the Judge(Tywin) that can choose the opponent.

One would assume Tyrion would choose Bronn and Tywin/Cersei would choose The Mountain. Though it would be rather interesting if the Court chose Oberyn.

I think that Tywin's plan was exactly what Jamie offered him, because Jamie offered Tywin exactly what Tywin would want most and Tywin is smart enough to angle for what he wants most. It just was made easier by Jamie coming to him.

Dinklage completely owned those scenes, probably more than anyone has owned any scene in the show so far. I can't wait to see him get repeatedly robbed come awards season.

Oberyn continues to be awesome. I like how he was actually trying to do his job as a judge while Tywin just railroaded Tyrion and Mace contributed zero.

Pycelle and Olenna need to have a scene together. They can talk about this charming Scottish gentleman they both know.

Davos clearly is the one who belongs on the Iron Throne.

Was this the first episode without a single Stark?

Did all y'all catch the snow castle in the previews?

Might have to start including Davos in my list of characters I love in GoT. Not quite there yet but not far from it. Speaking of characters I love, It's getting ridiculous how much I love Charles Dance as Tywin and we've been getting a lot of him lately to my great delight. I've got some other thoughts I'll have to keep to myself for now since I dare not venture into the GoT Books thread

I agree 1000%. Charles Dance was born to be Tywin. Same with Aidan Gillen as Little Finger. That Devilish, Rat bastard smirk Baelish wears on his face ALL the time just sells his character to me. By far, my 2 favs of the show. Oberyn is making his way up that list...

Told you Brownie, or I told someone a long time ago, the two characters I gravitated to most in the books were Theon and Davos. (This is not book spoilery and I will not go into reasons, but if you are sensitive please skip)

Theon represents the best and worst that all these people have to offer. Was never smart/ambitious enough to 'play the game' yet, through some deeply f'd up circumstances wanted to prove himself. He found out he didn't have the stomach for it, and that was his undoing. I still feel there is a tremendous redemption waiting for him.
Davos is the opposite. Knows his place and is the one thing that is terribly lacking...LOYAL. Even when he knows Stannis is wrong, he tries to help guide instead of bailing. The actor they cast could not have been better, even though he normally plays a heavy. Glad you are coming around, at least as far as Davos.

Other stuff(end of non spoiler spoilers)

Charles Dance is and has always been terrific. See Golden Child and Last Action Hero...a shining diamond in two turd-ish movies, as well as Aliens 3. Should have been a huge star. Nice to see him getting some love finally. And Littlefinger...I dunno. Man, that accent is so put on. I don't know if it's to highlight his delusions of grandeur or just a bad dialect decision. Tyrion as well sometimes lays the accent on a little too heavily. The other thing that bothers me about Littlefinger is that he has become this Bondian villain lately who does a lot of 'planning out loud'. Not too subtle for someone who is supposed to be such a schemer.
And yeah Nocturn, Oberyn is waaaaaaaay better than the thumbnail I thought he was in the book. Not too subtle at first but once they got that out of the way there is a lot to like about him.

I wasn't too sold on Oberyn at first, but I absolutely loved him in Sunday's episode. His utter confusion at Varys' asexuality is still making me laugh.

And I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty excited to get back to the Eyrie next week!
