Well, in the books, yeah he loses his nose...but that ain't gonna work on tv. First off it's a hard trick to pull off prosthetics wise and terribly uncomfortable for the actor. Plus Dinkledge probably wasn't going to sign off on something that disfiguring. It's a compromise...better get used to that because there are a ton of things moving forward that they just aren't gonna be able to do on the show.
