I'm glad they have a bigger budget.

I didn't realize Sean Bean was in Silent Hill.

Jon Snow on Game of Thrones S3: 'We don't want to piss off fans' | Blastr

In an interview with Screen Crush, Kit Harington spoke about the upcoming third season of the hit HBO fantasy series based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire saga book series.

Um... Without giving anything away, it's gonna be a high-impact season. They've [HBO] thrown more money at it than they've ever thrown. Everyone's story lines seems to have something which is just ... I don't know, I feel about Thrones that this season is gonna be kind of the iconic one. I don't know if that's going to far, but I don't want to give anything away, but I'm genuinely very excited.
When asked about Vanessa Taylor's comments that season 3 was going to be more cinematic than the previous seasonsóreferring to the Whitewalkers and the Wall, and asking how that higher buget will affect the storyline Harrington said:

Yeah, I'm not gonna say 'cause I don't want to ruin it, but, um...
About the general plotline of season three and if it was following the storyline from the third ASoIAF book A Storm of Swords Harrington said:

Yes. It does. I mean, they're always trying to stick as close to the books as much as possible because the books are so wonderful and we don't want to stray too far from them. We don't want to piss off fans, don't want to piss off George, but obviously there has to be adaptations. But I think, yeah, it sticks pretty close.
We're really tempted to say "you know nothing, Jon Snow" here, because season two has already pissed off some of the book fans already by dropping some important plotlines from the second book, A Clash of King, in favor of more gratuitus nudity and titillation.

Wait—Game of Thrones was originally supposed to be a movie? | Blastr

Thrones writer Bryan Cogman recently did a Q&A with The Mary Sue, where he let slip a very intriguing detail while discussing how they try to fit all the nuance from the books into the television series.

While that's a tough task in itself, he noted it'd have been all but impossible if the original plan to turn the book into a movie would've gone forward:

"If this had been a movie (and that was what was originally pitched to my boss, David Benioff) it would have gutted the story. Major characters and plotlines would have likely been jettisoned. I know some die-hard book fans are upset that, say, Jeyne Poole is gone -- but how would they have liked a version of the story that omitted Daenerys? Or half the Stark children? Or Jon Snow's entire storyline? That's what a film version would have looked like. When David read these books he knew they had to be a TV series and he brought Dan [D. B. Weiss] onboard and that was the plan from then on."
Thank goodness that idea wound up with its head on a stake, because I don't think anyone would've liked to see a woefully chopped version of Martin's epic tale.

damniit!!!! March 31st!!!!! Ugh. Looks so good. And Tyrion's scar, while not the disfigurement of a sawed off nose, is still pretty good.

GAME OF THRONES Season 3 Extends Episode Run Times with the Finale Over One Hour | Collider

EW reports that season three of Game of Thrones will receive both extended episode run times and a finale that will once again exceed one hour. Here’s what the Weiss had to say:

“There’s almost another full episode’s worth of extra minutes spread across the season. One of the great liberties with HBO is we’re not forced to come in at a specific time. We can’t be under 50 minutes or over 60, but that gives us a lot of flexibility…So for people clamoring for another episode, it’s in there. It’s just been cut into tiny pieces.”

    Benioff commented futher, saying:

“A super-sized season, as befitting Storm of Swords. Last year we had a lot of 52-minute episodes. This year is a lot of 56, 57.”

The network also commented on the possibility of a finale exceeding 60 minutes, as follows:

“All 10 episodes gained a minute or two from past seasons with the finale very possibly exceeding 60 minutes.”
