So I've seen the first two seasons... waiting breathlessly for the third... should I read the books of the seasons I've already seen? Or is it just redundant?
Not redundant at all. Different spins and elongated storylines. The first season was really faithful to the first book, but going forward it's technically impossible to cling that tightly. Only thing Doc...if you start reading the books, I am pretty sure you will not be able to stop. Be warned. I have read all the books and I actually am probably MORE excited because I cannot wait to see things happen on the screen. But you may be different.
You should definitely read the books. Think of them as extended cuts, as there is a lot of stuff chopped out to get the story down to 10 hours of television. There were also some changes made, more in the second season than the first. A lot of great Arya material in the second book was left out and replaced with new material that is also great, just completely different.
The third season is supposed to cover 2/3 of the third book, so if you don't want to get ahead of the show, ask someone here where to stop reading.

While HBO has yet to confirm that season four is a GO (like we ever doubted that it's gonna be), Dance, who plays the über awesome Lord Tywin Lannister on the series, has confirmed indeed that the fourth season is pretty much in the cards.
While promoting the DVD release of season two, Dance said:
“We’re about to start season four aren’t we? This year.
“We get scripts pretty early on, much earlier on than in similar series, usually you get perhaps one episode and you just have to trust that what’s going to come in subsequent episodes is going to be as good as the one you’ve got.
“But in this I think there are six scripts already written, and we will probably be able to see them with more than adequate time to prepare before we start shooting.”
Now that’s truly awesome news and we couldn’t be more thrilled that HBO is definitely moving forward with the fourth season of its hit HBO series.
An official confirmation should (hopefully) follow soon enough.
