My favorite line of the episode, if not the series.
Ugh...haven't seen last night's episode. Sooooo not looking forward to more Theon torture.
I don't know how you guys are so easily following along with this show. I can't keep up with all the names anymore. One thing is for sure. It needs more Sean Bean.
Well...reading the books helped. But then you face the same problem with a higher degree of difficulty in the books, because of the lack of visual connections and the fact that characters disappear for long segments and re-appear with a sort of 'we now return you to the program already in progress' flavor. But I think Benioff/Weiis have done a terrific job of introducing characters at the right pace and never straying too far from them so that you forget them. It's a dense show but that's what makes it so good.
And everything could benefit from more Sean Bean.
I think I'm doing a reasonable job of keeping track who is doing what and for what house, but I struggle to remember names which can make it complicated when they talk about a third party. Like when Arya was reciting her names the other episode, and I thought to myself "Ser Ilyn Payne, now who the hell was that again?". I remembered eventually, but in the cases I don't IMDB helps out a lot if I can figure out the proper spelling :)
Also, if you can stand them (and have the option) subtitles do wonders by also activating your visual memory when it comes to names of characters and locations. And with spelling, obviously.
rewatching the episodes helps. I know I had trouble in the beginning with the Targaryans. I hadn't realized they were related to "The Mad King" until the very end of season one. Then, not until I read the books, did I realize that Jorah Mormont is the son of the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. So yeah. Totally understandable. Oh, and since you brought up Ilyn Payne, he's related to Poddrick.
