Jeor Mormont - Older White dude that was the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch until they killed him.
Jeor was Jorah's dad
Ser Ilyn Payne - Creepy WAAAY old dude that can't talk. Chopped off Ned Stark's head in season 1.
Poddrick Payne - Tyrion Lannister's squire, and all around stud with the ladies.
They're somehow related. I don't believe it's even explained how.
Yeah, I don't think that happened in the books. OOOf strong episode. For the first time I wish I hadn't read the books for reasons I will revisit once the final 3 episodes air. Maybe not the reasons you think. The wall scene was terrific and literally breathtaking...especially when they reached the top. YYgrid, although a strong character in the books, is more likeable in the flesh. Just one of MANY great performances. But really the scene of the night was Tywin/Grandma. Diana Riggs has been MONEY. the what 3? scenes she has had, she just OWNED. The Theon stuff is almost unwatchable for me, and his tormentor is ANOTHER actor doing some fine fine work. Man, it is going to be a LOOOOOOOOONG wait till the next season. Strongest season so far and really just gives me nothing but faith that a terribly unfilmable bunch of books is in the right hands. HBO has a lot of Emmy noms coming their way.
OOh, just read that next week is the annual George RR Martin scripted episode, so there is even more reason to be excited.
Oh and '...fail at dinner' is bound to become some sort of internet meme. The Kingslayer is ALWAYS entertaining.
Cable Ratings: HBO's 'Game Of Thrones' Hits Another High, 'Mad Men' Up Slightly, 'Jerseylicious' Finale Up - Deadline.com
4 weeks running Thrones has set a new high...back up HBO we don't know how big this can get. Really interested in the financial aspects at this point. I know that the major players probably make nice money, but the bulk of the budget is reserved for the show(and you can see it right in front of your eyes). I have to figure the cast is going to want to see a raise at some point. I hope that the cost of keeping them happy does not affect the quality of the show. It's especially troubling because the show is never going to get 'smaller' than it is right now, in fact some parts are going to need careful editing and rewriting because they are simply too massive to present on screen. We are talking Cecil B DeMille stuff, and I ain't joking. Not to mention...they have been crafty hiding the direwolves/dragons and limiting their exposure, well you can only dodge that bullet for so long. Concerned and very interested moving forward.
I'm curious...how long does it typically take before the DVD/BR sets are available after the season ends? I do not have HBO and I can only watch season 1 and 2 so many times....heh
